The Big Ten rival has all the makings of a perfect landing spot for Mulcahy: a dire need at point guard, strong name, image and likeness (NIL) capabilities and a head coach with a history of working with transfers and adapting to the strengths of his roster. Illinois star Coleman Hawkins ominously asked if the Illini were “going to get New Jerseys” in a tweet last week. It is unclear whether that was an autocorrect slip or an insinuation that the program was going to add a New Jersey native to the roster, but it is obvious that Mulcahy would significantly upgrade their roster.
The lone downside for Mulcahy if he were to choose a move to Champaign: his newfound reputation as a villain in Piscataway would grow ten-fold for staying in conference. Rutgers fans soured on former teammate Cam Spencer, who also left the program as a graduate transfer late this offseason, but the sting wore off slightly when he chose to play in the Big East for defending national champion UConn.Rutgers is scheduled to face Illinois twice this season. If Mulcahy is an Illini, his return to Piscataway would arguably be the most anticipated since Mike Rosario came back to Rutgers with Florida.

Outside of Cliff and Edey, I would take Dain over any other 5 in the big ten
Damonte was no angel and had a rep. Mulcahy knew his context and audience.

dude, I've been questioning a lot of your statements lately. Indy and Illini0440 are the real ones
Mady Sissoko, Kel'el Ware, Zed Key, and maybe even Ben Krike.......but Dain "likely be one of the best 5s in the COUNTRY"
outside of those two the B1G isn’t exactly the best conference in terms of centers… I would take Ware over Dain off the top of my head — and also Coleman, who IMO should be our starting 5.

Not necessarily, but I do not think the talent is that far off. Sissoko is a good defender, high energy guy. Key has a similar game to Dainja offensively and a good rebounder.
