They prefer Reeves and Reeves like Illinois…There’s mutual interest their and I expect them to pursue him. If they don’t land him though than they’ll get someone else.
Yeah, this Reeves thing doesn’t sound remotely promising. Can’t wait to see Plan E after he isn’t interested in us….
I agree with everything you wrote, with two exceptions. First, Rodgers is a 4 at this point, not a 3. Second I don't think Sergio was necessarily a better overall player than Rodgers. I do however think Sergio was closer to a PG than Rodgers. And it was still ugly trying to play him at PG.Mast played 9 minutes a game.
My point is Sergio was a lot better player overall than Rodgers and it didn't work. It's not likely going to work with Rodgers. He is a 3. Nice guy off the bench.
Staff can't go from PG is our biggest need to a week later we now have it covered.
That said we are still better than last year which was torture to watch.
Upper half of BT, 6/7 seed.
Might make it out of first weekend.

I realize I've left the barn door wide open for a witty riposte concerning Hunter. Have at it. It's why I'm here.
Sounds like staff is trying to go after Reeves, but as for the PG search, seems like we're done. My guess is Ty will play a very unconditional PG in that he'll be the one they trust to bring the ball up the court and call the play, but then he'll spend most of his time inside the arc, while other bigs like CoHawk and Quincy will cycle between inside and outside. Ty is just so naturally gifted on the boards and he really is a couple post moves away from being an absolute menace inside, that it would be such a waste in my opinion if he spends most of his time outside the arc.I'm not convinced we're done.
Also, I think testing Ty at PG is a worthwhile experiment.
Seems like our track record of not developing guards has finally caught up to us after the Ayo luster has worn off.Yeah, this Reeves thing doesn’t sound remotely promising. Can’t wait to see Plan E after he isn’t interested in us….
No has stated, from what I have read, thus far that Harmon not qualifying was a done deal. They have actually stated if it can be done, Illinois is keeping him. What happened to the talk that Harmon wasn't going to make it to campus due to academic issues?

who's the guy?
I have huge faith in Ty's ability and desire. That being said, I hope he shows vast improvement in his handles and develops a serviceable outside shot.Sounds like staff is trying to go after Reeves, but as for the PG search, seems like we're done. The even bigger question I have is how will our defensive sets work? Ty did struggle guarding the perimeter last year- perhaps he has taken a big step forward there, but he seemed far less comfortable guarding opposing guards than forwards. As well, CoHawk is a plus defender, but he too struggles with quicker guards. So if we have those 2 on the floor and another interior defender big, be it Dain or Guerrier, I see us struggling defending any team that plays 4 guards, 5 out, or has a speedy backcourt.
In some ways our build reminds of the old Bob Huggins Cincy teams (without the plus PG) where based on three of our starters preferring interior defense, we have a 2-3 (or 1-1-3) defensive build. Those teams could beat people up inside and were good on the boards, but they got absolutely lit up by any team that could drain threes. And I'm not saying Brad is going to go to a 1-1-3 zone this year, just that the starting lineup we would have with regards to their size and defensive skills matches well with it.
Either way though, defense is definitely going to be interesting this year as being a slightly slower team, switching will likely burn us and our traditional man looks on paper like it may struggle guarding the three.
I think the OP "leaked out" PG by committee with Ty, Sencire, TSJ, DGL, Harmon all playing there. That's if Williams isn't available. I think of those names, Harmon would be our best option, but it turns out he may not even be available. With people starting to leak out Ty at PG, tells us everything we need to know about the plan to fill gaps going forward. We swung and massively missed.
Hoping the best for Ty, think he’s a stud, but this isn’t a great look no matter how you spin it. As we stand now, we’re a second round team at best, and looks like the staff didn’t/doesn’t have a concrete plan to fix the gaps.
No. Probably even less than Sencire, Ty, TSJ, etc. Which isn't saying much. Very messed up situation at this point. Is Reeves even remotely considered a point guard? Serious question.

I don’t know how many posters think this season will be a total disaster, but I think a lot of posters see the potential for this team if we can land a solid distributor and facilitator. It’s the thought that we’re so close to having a great team that’s driving me nuts. It was almost unbearable to watch this team at times last year with hero ball, little ball movement, and defensive lapses. There is nothing more frustrating to me than watching a dysfunctional team. When we had those moments when we did move the ball well and played together (on O and D), we were unstoppable. Imagine that with this year’s talent working together as a team. We are one solid PG away from that rn.Everyone complaining that this season is going the be a total disaster, what does that mean to you? The way the roster looks today I feel like we’re in that 20-30 range, certainly not great but not what I’d consider a disaster by any stretch. We should be a good team with Shannon and hawkins back a year of experience for the young guys and vets all around. We may not be a great one without a good pg but if Williams can be healthy and solid he can be good enough to help the rest of the roster shine. If we get reeves especially we’ve almost got a big three type of team and then I think we could be very good. Without really knowing how everyone fits together my initial prediction is 5-7 seed. Again not great but teams on that seed line make the sweet 16 every year and having two future pros should help.
I agree that Brads gonna have to show more but I don’t see why his seat should be warm yet. We won a big ten championship then had a failed experiment of a team that collapsed due to a number of reasons of which pg is one but far from the only problem. I don’t know how contracts and stuff all work too but wouldn’t we have to pay big time to fire him with so many years left on his deal? Seems like unless there’s a sure fire great candidate we know will come here the smart thing would be to let him try for another few years to break through that second weekend barrier. Otherwise we risk ending up in program limbo again for who knows how long. especially when we have a guy who has all the makings of a special player in Morez coming in next year, pair that up with Amani and DGL if he stays and upper class men Ty and Sencire and that could be a really good team. Just seems like it makes most sense to wait at least a couple years before firing brad is a serious thought, don’t extend him but don’t fire him yet
