I'm unsure if you could call him the U18 team's "primary" point guard, but he played it a ton in that tournament. Ty played a lot of point guard for us last year. I'm honestly not sure why everyone's memory seems to be so foggy on this.

No he didn't, and Ty playing "point guard" for us last year was mainly dribbling up the floor and then passing it to Shannon on the wing and then relocating to the baseline or the wing.

You are free to live in your fantasy land then. I posted an article. You should probably read it.
I am not the one trying to rewrite history. Yes, he played some "PG" against Michigan because Epps was out (with 1 assist and 2 turnovers in 33 minutes). Do you remember a lot of Ty in ball screens? Because I don't. And I watched the U18s last summer, he was not playing point guard.

Illini HQ podcast....."Mulcahey still in play. Williams not yet on scholarship... waiting on admissions clearance and health (recovery) evaluation. Rodgers interested in playing point."
Don't blame me....just what podcast reported...
Where can we find the podcast?

Well, perhaps our definitions of point guard differs, so I'll just have to agree to disagree.

Imagine.. not playing a kid from Wisconsin very much- who worked harder than most people ive had the privilege of seeing play and workout in person... only for him to transfer to uc Santa Clara and become a top 25 projected pick the very next year..
imagine catching your balls in your zipper

A little off topic... but under the 'Sports Talk' segment of this site is a thread for Illini Womens Basketball. Over the past few days Shauna Green and staff have posted several pics and short videos introducing their new players and welcoming them to campus. After last years surprising success, and anticipation of an even better year this coming season. I was thinking it might be great if a bunch of folks from this thread dropped over there and gave those posts a bunch of likes to show the women that we appreciate what they are developing in the WBB program and have our enthusiastic support.

In reality, I think that's going to be a large bulk of PG duties this year as well, and he'll play the position somewhat non-traditionally. Take the ball up the floor without turning it over, get it to one of the playmakers, and call up a play, then do his work primarily on the interior while one of our bigs who have an outside game like CoHawk and Guerrier rotate outside to fill the void he leaves and create mismatches. Personally, I do think this can work on offense as the opposing team will want to put a guard on Ty since he's bringing the ball up the floor and a big on Guerrier or CoHawk, but that becomes a big mismatch once Ty rotates inside as without a switch, the opponent will be forced to have a smaller guard trying to stop Ty inside while having one of their bigs try fighting to keep up with Guerrier or CoHawk from three.

So offensively if the players buy in and listen to the coaching staff this year (which I do think they will), we might be better than we think on that side of the court (though yes, there will be more turnovers than we would like). Defensively though is where I have more questions as my gut feel is that while our players our above average interior defenders, I think we may struggle guarding the perimeter with 2 bigs and Ty on the court.

Here’s a few examples from last year @ PSU.

07:16 - ball screen, baseline pass for Goode 3
08:04 - ball screen, lob for Dain FTs
08:42 - unrelated but just nice footwork
12:25 - takes his man off the dribble but has awareness to collect himself and pass out for Hawkins 3

Granted it’s not much, but that’s just one game. Guarantee there were other times throughout the year where Ty ball screen = points.

(spoiler- don’t watch 2nd half highlights if you’re in a good mood)

I didn't watch all of that U18's games but this is what I remember about Ty as well.
He was the "glue" guy most of all, plus the PG much of the time and did it very well.
He didn't shoot much but showed a nice mid-range floater I'd like to see more of this year.

He was our PG on occasion last year for us as well, not too often but not bad for a freshman, plus already an absolute beast on the glass.

Never said he was never in ball screens, just not a lot of them. In this example was two ball screens in his second highest scoring game of the year when Epps was running point.

Not walking back anything lmao. Ty is a great player who is an elite offensive rebounder and defender, but he factually was not in a lot of ball screens last year, did not play "a lot" of point guard for us last year, and was not the point guard during U18s. Seems like a lot of people are remembering stuff differently since June 1st at around 11 AM.

"Not much" is being generous. Any decent Forward (PF or SF) should be able to do what you highlighted.

OTOH, the kid Pickett was pretty good!

I agree, other than he's not a great player (at least not yet). The way people build narratives is crazy.
