Unless he found another gear in the injury recovery process he will be Mark Smith v 2.0.Skyy responded 'syke', but it really would be the funniest possible outcome.

It’s not moot that you couldn’t understand the article.Kind of moot. He is saying at UVA and Underwood never showed much interest
.
The last 5 classes it hasn't been about not recruiting well, but keeping the recruits. Epps is going to a very good college player. Ty and Sincere are as well. Melendez/Pods/Goode very nice class. DGL/Hansbury seems pretty good. A.Miller, Cubello, Hawkins pretty darn good. Kofi, can't remember if we landed a guard in this class. Ayo, Georgi, etc.. not shabby. BU and staff have identified good players after they established themselves.Eh he is likely a lame duck coach. Sure it helps this season but they are likely going to fall flat recruiting without a long term answer
Yeah I'd lean towards passing on him too but I could see an argument for being a 20 min guy that can create some offense. Realistically, he's Andre Curbelo with a better jump shot. He completely killed Bama in the tournament against SDSU but he can be really really good at times.Jahvon Quinerly in the portal, personally, hard pass from me.
I was talking about WVU elevating their asst coach to interim HC. They are just buying time because this is so off cycle in the coaching carousel. The last 5 classes it hasn't been about not recruiting well, but keeping the recruits. Sign me up for Curbelo with a better jump shot!Yeah I'd lean towards passing on him too but I could see an argument for being a 20 min guy that can create some offense. He's also awful defensively.
You might want to sit a few plays out.If your that poor a FT shooter or cant even attempt 10 shoy you can't handle the ball at all and have good offense. Did Ty even take a 10 foot shot all year? We need shooters man n spacing. Remember last year? I love Ty on the glass getting extra possessions but he has to be able to shoot outside of the lane and hit his FTs. He never even took a shot besides a lay up.as I recall
We’re judging their free throw shooting off of 20 and 31 attempts. Such a small sample size and a day to think nerves could cause some misses. while I dont think they will all of a sudden be 80 pct I think 60s is pretty likely and low 70s isn’t all that unrealistic.Like really what is a reasonable expectation? Why do you feel thu
is way? Do you honestly thinkthuis is the first off season they worked on poor free throws shooting? Ty didn't shoot a single jumper all.lazt season man. He also to his strengths ill give him that and very hard. Teams will put him on the line. I wish I felt he will be reliable but I don't see him getting 40 percent better when I am sure he has worked on FTs for years.
NahI can‘t speak for everyone, but I think the items you mentioned are discussed as symptoms rather than the actual problem.
The BU supporters have been trying to defend him but the big picture is that the program under BU very clearly peaked Ayo’s last year and has been on a steady decline since then.
This offseason was supposed to be the one we reload, and that hasn’t happened. Domask and Harmon may end up being great additions but we are in an even worse position than last year PG. Saying we can’t find a PG because none match our culture is a program failure.
To be completely fair. Going 4 for 20 is absolutely unbelievably bad. Like it's honestly hard for me to fathom how a D1 top 100ish guard can shoot that poorly in a 20 free throw sample. We’re judging their free throw shooting off of 20 and 31 attempts. While he certain had some issues, mainly defensively, he did average 7.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.1 apg (2.1 topg), while shooting 41.1% from the field, 33.3% from 3, and 69.6% on FTs.Unless he found another gear in the injury recovery process he will be Mark Smith v 2.0.

well, for Harris, he shot 32% from three. Sure seems likely that his 20% from the line was more about freshman yips than ability.Like really what is a reasonable expectation? Why do you feel thu

when has Illinois (underwood years) run iso sets? Hope they do but it hasn’t been a staple the last 6 years. Unless Illinois was on defense and ucla got Clark to switch onto jaquez time after time after timeI tend to believe it. If we move past the "Dribble the ball up from the backcourt" task a PG has (which Ty seems perfectly capable of doing at an acceptable level), then the PG's role in a spread offense is to make that first pass and then get into his motion and positioning. As long as we have enough shooting, passing, cutting, post play, slashing, etc. across the 5 players, we should be able to run an effective offense (if we have one in the binder, that is). Ty doesn't have to float by the perimeter, doesn't have to shoot threes -- he can play his game.
In late shot clock situations, you need SOMEONE who is the prime option -- but it doesn't have to be the PG. And whoever is designated as the "guy bringing the ball up" doesn't have to be the first defender back, and thus limit his rebounds.
Finally, once we get into the halfcourt, or even on the break, we will have size mismatches that we should be able to exploit. The other team's (usually smaller) PG will have to guard someone, and that someone should be able to take advantage of that.
Point being: As long as we have the personnel to cover all of the various tasks on the floor, we don't have to fall into classic definitions of what a 1, 2 or 3 does. With good coaching, we should be able to minimize deficiencies and maximize mismatches.
The season doesn't come down to who plays PG -- it comes down to the coaches being able to get everyone on the same page, understanding their roles, and being put in roles they can perform. We have all the talent we need, right now, to have a great season. But they need to be coached up.

That's pretty good for a true Fr coming off an injury. The 33.3% ended up being the 2nd best on the team from 3.
I have no idea why he left, and he certainly wasn't a perfect player, but let's not pretend he was a bum.
We offer one of the dozens of players that put their name in the portal after finishing up summer courses. Could happen but feels unlikely. Either way it’s not an Illinois specific issue. What happens when we leave the foreign trip & a guy is unhappy with his PT & hits the portal days before school starts?
Who are they talking about?Just really shows how late into the summer all of this could play out
Think this is more than typical offseason hype.
2 things can be true. RayJ would have been a fantastic pg, but it was said even before they got RayJ that Ty would play some point and they liked him thereWell, Ty Rodgers wasn't being sold as the point guard until they missed on RayJ Dennis. And they went really hard after Dennis, so they obviously wanted a different point guard.

I think the Spain trip will allow for some optimism to return before the season starts; whether it’s deserved or not.Not sure it will be fighting, but BU is going to be relentlessly beaten down on this board until November, when we'll see how this plays out in live action.
How do you say Little Sisters of the Poor in Spanish?I think the Spain trip will allow for some optimism to return before the season starts; whether it’s deserved or not.
