well, if a lighthearted joke drives them away from the site, I've not much sympathy.
I'd prefer the pics go as well. But I don't get offended too easily and when I do I don't let it change what I'd like to do.
Keep.doing what you do Pru. I have been a fan of Illini sports since the 70s and I frequent this site constantly looking for entertainment and Illini news. I Iive and die with our sports teams, maybe a bit crazy but I do. It's great to hear other people talk about our teams with the zeal that I do and it's fun to see some of your posts that bring a bit of entertainment to our conversations. We should all be on the same page as Illini fans as we live and die with these teams. Read this blog on your personal devices outside of work, you should work at work and read this blog afterwards. No issues if you do this. Nothing wrong with Pru sharing some minor details about his life with the NLs and some hot chicks that he finds worthy. No issues.
I’ve really enjoyed getting your recruiting info here the last few weeks. I just want to point out that it’s consistently not just one person that is asking for change in what’s allowed to be posted. It’s dare I say it, a community of posters. It’s almost like democracy, so strange.
You do you Pru. Sometimes one of your posts catches me at a rough moment and reminds me that - sure the serious stuff matters, but let's have a bit of fun and nonsense while we are at it.
I don’t know that too many were overly offended by the content as much as empathetic to those that are. I don’t see what’s wrong with making this an inclusive space where all feel welcome. From my perspective, that’s all those asking for some self moderation with regards to the pics come from. To see things through that lense.
I believe a female poster was one of the first to vocally take umbrage with that particular content, and as a community I don’t see why we can’t do better. I don’t think that’s asking too much, but I tend to be a reasonable person.

There is no shortage of sites to read and/or post about Illini sports. There are various free and some subscription sites. as well twitter threads, Facebook groups and media run sites. Some are highly moderated, some have no moderation. This one has, for my taste, just the right amount of moderation. I think Dan does a great job of keeping on topic when there is actual recruiting or other news to discuss, while allowing a bit more freedom of discussion when we find ourselves in a down period for news. Like now.
I have checked out a number of sites over the years, but am now down to following this site, alone, as the best source of information and sometimes entertainment. In all the other sites I've visited, I found them generally not totally suitable but it never occured to me get on the site and request changes in how it operated in order to meet my taste. I simply moved on to another site that I found more agreeable, and left the objectionable site to it's members.

The difference is you’re recommending people leave if they don’t like it and many are recommending we find a way to co-exist. This is an interesting microcosm of our society at large.
Right now it sounds like it’s Memphis or Kansas for Jaye Nash. Transferred from Briarcrest here in Memphis to Oak Hill Academy recently.

Based on the response we got a couple of locked threads ago, that may in fact be asking too much.
I’ve read a lot of ridiculous posts on the forum.Demands, requests, observations...there are some differences between these in reality, but I, too, am tired of all the requests, demands, and prude opinions.

I too stand with the opinion that these recruiting threads should be interspersed with colorful photos so that others can join and help propagate my shallow perspective of women. I propose that the Recruiting thread also be known as the Pervy Pub and Yacht Club. Incentives and attaboys should be given so that this aspect of the thread can flourish. People who have daughters and who cringe should lighten up. People with sisters and mothers for that matter as well. In fact, if there are any lady Illini fans here, they are welcome to join and apply for the NL tier which grants VIP Yacht Club membership. Whether your pic is linked to a NSFW site, or you are someone's daughter (the ones on NSFW sites aren't actually anyone's daughter--they're robots so no one cares what happens to them), the opportunity is there for you to join this liberating aspect to the forum that won't cater to unreasonable and antiquated perspectives. Ladies, just DM the Yacht Club operators to apply.
Ladies, I look forward to your contributions to this aspect of recruiting as well. There's nothing like celebrating recruiting with an atmosphere that welcomes all women to participate.

And yet the disagreeable types like you usually can't give one articulate reason why they don't like the posts. Just passive agressively insult. Please try to give any logical reasons what's wrong with it, I'll listen. The problem is it uses humor to make a point, which you also don't like.

These requests ARE reasonable. IMO. They politely stated their case. However some of the others were not. We often seem to like to nitpick semantics on here…but “demanding” is a fairly accurate description of what SOME of you are doing…not only that…but you have made insulting personal attacks. (On both sides of the argument I might point out.) As to Pruman, can we give the man a break already?
He has been called: A Sick, Pervy, Oldman…and it was also implied that he was immature child that never has never grown up…That’s just cruel. IMO.
Calling someone an idiot who disagrees with you probably isn’t the best either.
(I don’t think I’ve resorted to name calling on here…but I’m not saying I’m not guilty of saying knee jerk things like that myself.)
I like Pruman. I don’t agree with everything he does/says but I think there is a pretty decent person there. I’m not sure why exactly, but I find the Walken-thing and the referring to himself in the 3rd-person schtick quite random and comical.
And I think a lot of you on both sides of this thing seem like decent people. I really really do. Enough Illini on Illini violence.

Also, randomly it was brought up that Roseanne, once again said some abhorrent things in the media. Absolutely!!! I agree…compassion for the groups she offended. The other side of that…the woman has legit mental illness…Her friends claim she is not a racist. She seems to have gone pretty far down the cult-ish political rabbit hole…She should be held accountable indeed. But it seems rather non-progressive to not ever forgive or believe a person cannot be rehabilitated…does it not? Just something to consider.
As I have stated before: Yes, this place gets more than a little too boorish at times. Yes, we should strive to be empathetic and inclusive. I have a daughter. I understand that point.
I understand the work (computer) issue. I do. I voiced a similar concern years ago on
a guitar site forum with LOTS of profanity…yada yada when I was trying to learn how to play AC DC solos or whatever it was. So I understand that. I don’t recall my request going over too well.
I’m sure I pissed everybody off. That wasn’t my intent. It’s pretty easy to do these days.
