Nope, but I did get to witness Lephonso Ellis get ‘held’ to 6 points in the semi state against Mt. Vernon. Literally, my buddy, Robert Jones, tugged on his shorts all night. NEVER have I seen such an awesome looking 6 point performance. They only beat us by 6-8 pts. Can’t say that about Chicago King at State

I remember Frankie Williams getting shut down by Mike Wilder at Stephen Decatur High School. Love Frankie but he did not show up that day.

That 1996-97 SDHS team was really great. Can’t believe they lost in the sectional final. Wilder was a great defensive presence and Bryson was a phenom scorer.

I totally accept this. I played against Marcus Liberty at IMPE one time, and he didn't score a SINGLE POINT against me. ZERO.

Shoulda seen the time I held Kevin Duckworth to zero points at EIU. Of course we were on the dance floor at Krackers . He was drafted earlier that evening as well. Good times.

He was the most laid back guy as well. We sat next to each other in Speech Comm and he was terrified of public speaking. I had to talk him off the ledge b4 he gave his speeches. He just wanted to fish and play hoops. Awesome dude. Few years later he's playing against the Bulls in the finals.

One of the all time great games. That Illinois team was sneaky good. Garris, Keene and Hester were good. Then Jerry Gee was a freak.

Gee was massive. His senior year he looked like Goliath going against Eureka in the IHSA semis.
Jerry (at the time) had no help and the Hornets won to move on.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s in the cards. No dice. The guys way too much of a crapshoot.
As this thing goes down to the wire, I suppose they’re trying to play the percentages. Who knows?

Frankly, I just don’t see it.
It’s possible they think they’ve hit the jackpot with him; but I don’t see him as much of an ace in the hole.
