He can shoot the ball really well. May not be as athletic as Lewis, but I think he scores just as well if not better

they're both excellent shooters. Lewis has proven it on the biggest AAU stage (EYBL), but Butler shined too (SSB/Adidas). Butler's shooting lines (2FG%, 3FG%) are routinely VVG and he's virtually automatic from the line.

The only stats I could find of Butler's in that tournament is him scoring 7 points on 25% shooting vs. lesser competition.

One ride open now. At a minimum 4 more open next year. In all likelihood five with Coleman departing. So that’s six open spots next year before factoring in any attrition. So there’s certainly room for both Butler and Lewis, and even Fears if he reclassifies. And you can never have enough shooting on the wings.

In this day and age if like a kid and he wants to come you take him. I don’t think you worry about class balance like you used to. Seems like that has a way of sorting itself out in the portal.

Really hope we get Lewis because he seems by far the highest ranked guard we are in on and we need back court difference makers in the worst way. I trust the staff on Butler but based on his rating/offer list he seems less likely to develop into a star. Hope we get both.

is there any chance that they take both? I just don't like the idea of turning Lewis away for a guy who doesn't have a single other HM offer.

Not sure what's up with that, looks like his team won all their games: https://3ssbcircuit.com/team/jalen-green-elite-17u/

But if you click on each game there's only a box score for the 1st one and it also seems to only be for part of that game as the totals don't add up. Either the website is broke or they just stopped keeping box score halfway thru the 1st game.

Regardless, tough to judge a kid of off a single 1st half box score. He did have 4 steals.

Illinois has been short (quantity) of good shooters for way too long. I say take them both. For comparison - are they as good as distance shooter as the Bloomington Central Catholic kid who is going to Notre Dame?

I think the sentiment from the insiders is that they will be taking both.
But a random poster said they're taking jase over lewis which didnt make sense.

Was reading some Sparty article on predictions and they were talking about Dainja and the quote was "if Illinois could ever manage to field a team with 3+ shooters on the floor at once...etc". Minus that 21'/22' team, they have a point

Prefer Mikeys shooting, but not a fan of his ball handling, or athleticism.
