Xavier is gonna be a real contender for this one … Maybe our biggest competition … And when Sean locks in on a kid … Dude doesn’t miss … Xavier NIL is no joke … As good or better than ours … Which says a lot …

It’s a good thing he’s playing with Streets (shoutout TA’s people for helping with that and keeping him away from Indy Heat) …

Jeff Teague is going to be coaching him this year in HS … So he’s going to get great development … Teague also has his own AAU team … Look for him to get Nike sponsorship before long and he will have the best kids in Indy I’m sure … TA is well plugged in there, don’t worry … 😉

Wouldn’t be so sure about that anymore …

And as for the sentence after that …

For all of IU fans' talk about glory and tradition, they have a lower all-time winning percentage than Illinois or Purdue, fewer Big 10 championships than Purdue, have never won a B10 tournament championship in the 25 years it has been played (and reached the title game only once, over 20 years ago), and have fewer Final 4 appearances than Michigan St. or Ohio St.

Much like UConn more recently, the Hoosiers of the past wildly outperformed in terms of winning titles in years that they reach the Final 4 (5 of 8), but all of that happened more than 35 years ago...

Yeah, but don’t confuse them with facts! They are a blue blood program according to themselves!

So, at my first company fresh out of school, I was invited to go on my first business trip. It was a sales trip, and as one of the engineers on the team, I really had only one purpose to basically silently sit there and look smart. As such, us engineers were sat down with HR and given a strict per diem of $30 a day that we should absolutely not go over, with penalty of being fired. We took this seriously of course.

Well our first day out there we were taken to a restaurant with the client. So us engineers were sitting there off the main table at the functional equivalent of a kiddie table looking at the menu and quickly realized we had a problem. See everything on that menu was well over $30. The waiter starts going around taking everyone's orders and our client and sales reps all basically said "I'll take the steak" ($100ish dollars) one by one and it finally gets to us. We're basically heavy sweating and hyperventilating at this point. Seems like everyone in the restaurant is looking at us and we're like, "uhhhh, we'll have the steak."

Several hours later, our sales reps are buying bottles of champagne and these like $300 seafood platters and us engineers forever realized that if you ain't going over your per diem, you ain't ballin. Never worried about it again, lol.

In any case, yeah $10,000 is a lot and will probably get you fired, but it's a good life lesson you learn from. If that's the worst he's done, not only have I got no issues, but hell, we should hire him back as our NIL closer for recruiting, lol. Tell him to take that kid out for a night in Champaign that only Dee can show him. Can't say no to that
Ummmm! Not what he was actually talking about….But, thanks for the laughs!

For the record, I heard St Mary's last night
That's been the word for while. I am not sure what school Mikey was waiting for an offer from, but the recruitment will be over on the 27th.

Armchair Illini blog posted a story about Sky Clark's debut exhibition game at Louisville. In the article they mention we lost out on a McDonald's All American guard because our coaches were fine with just Clark and Epps instead. Any truth to this? If so, who was it?

Sounds (a lot) like revisionist history, lol.*

* - disclaimer: I didn't read the article, because it's based on a false premise

I thought so too, but Fears is a freshman this season... Besides wasn't Fears already a MSU commit by the time Skyy decommitted from Kentucky?

I think Nick Smith Jr. is the only McD guard we seriously pursued.
Was it Boswell? I remember the narrative being we picked Skyy over one of them.

Jeremy Fears Jr. was a verbal commit to IL when Skyy committed, and that was all he needed to switch to MSU. FWIW, we lost Podz 2 days after the Skyy commitment as well.

I thought we told Fears we needed to see more, specifically improved outside shot, before we'd take him.
Hence the verbal commit. The staff wasn't ready to accept his commitment and chose Skyy over him. Then he skated over to MSU and collected an even bigger bag than what IL would've given him.

Hindsight…..It always looks so clear after it all plays out. Of course, if Skyy had panned out and he turned out to be an absolute baller for us, the narrative would be different. Not sure if the general consensus called this ahead of time?

Don't think anyone including TA or BU so him as a selfish quitter

I don't think that's what a verbal commitment is. Anywho, water under the bridge.

Fears really helped his case (er, bag) by having a monster senior season and shooting up the rankings.

FWLIW, I still have doubts about how good his outside shot is.
