One of the things about kids ranked that high though, is that they typically are only in college for one season. And while they may be extremely good players as frosh, they often don't have a lot of things going for them that older players do (strength/experience/etc). Sensabaugh, Branham, Hood-Schifino, Howard, Bufkin, Houston, Christie, McGowens being some recent examples within our own conference.
That said, sometimes you get an absolute beast. So I'm not saying don't recruit those players, just that their one year in college is sometimes kind of meh.
