what's wrong with his record at UCLA? Alford didn't really have them humming during his tenure. Cronin has already taken them to a Final Four and 2 Sweet 16s, and a 31 win season.

He's having a down season this year, but looking at his record, if one down season gets you fired, that's pretty rough. Cronin's record clearly shows he is a great coach. If UCLA fired him, I'd hire him the next day if I were Louisville or OSU.

I've soured on Cronin after this year. I'm not sure why any parent would want their son to play for him after his antics in the media and just throwing his players under the bus game after game when they were struggling. There are plenty of coaches around the country that coach their players hard but don't leave them out to dry in the media.

Because I think he'll be at Louisville ... Once they strike out on their top 5 options ... Which I fully expect to happen ...

But if somehow he doesn't end up there ... I think he could also get the Ohio State job ...

He's going to be pretty sought after this coming carousel ...
Is there a reason that Louisville has fallen so hard recently? Does the problem start from the end of Pitino and not being able to find a decent replacement? Or does it stem from higher than the coaches?

Louisville was ranked #1 during the season that ended with Covid under Chris Mack, who was a monster hire to replace Pitino.

But the bizarre and multifaceted scandal that felled Mack shortly thereafter kind of inflicted maximum roster damage, and then they hired Kenny Payne who has been one of the best recruiters of the modern era but habitually passed over for HC jobs, and it turns out there seems to be a reason why.

I have to believe this is the end of the line for Payne, but that remains a really great job. They'll be back.

(I'd imagine Mack will be back too, that would be an interesting tOSU candidate)

Don’t think Mack has much/if any interest in coaching again …

I went to see #1 ranked Homewood-Flossmoor tonight since they played right down the street from me and I refused to pay for Peacrotch. Does anyone know if Illinois is active in Bryce Heard's recruitment? Kid was on fire, ended up scoring 30. Four-star recruit looked like a star; just electric for a high school baller. I haven't heard much said about him on the IL boards but do see Illinois is listed on his 247, for whatever that's worth. Hope someone is actively working that recruit.

Believe he may have started elsewhere, possibly Kenwood. Haven't heard his name in awhile. In days prior to portal he would likely be a higher priority, now with national recruiting and portal he probably falls down the list of priorities. Illinois is likely looking for a seasoned scorer in the mold of TSJ and not a freshmen.
