How does Indiana just swoop in and get a 5 star every freaking cycle. Horrible coach, horrible team, and horrible pants yet they still get the top ranked dudes every single year when we’ve yet to ever land 1! Eric Gordon will always make me hate them
Easy Answer. Lots of tradition across the state line. The IU alumni and fan base are a proud bunch and don't want to let this thing go, despite the current downward trend.

Top-ranked teams all-time in the AP Top 25 poll based on points from votes

1 Kentucky: 17,852
2 North Carolina: 17,268
3 Duke: 16,897
4 Kansas: 15,430
5 UCLA: 13,073
6 Louisville: 9,493
7 Arizona: 9,277
8 Indiana: 8,796
9
Syracuse: 7,890

This doesn't exude great vibes, we all good with Buck?
I don’t speak fluent emoji but I don’t think I translated this the way you did. I translated as:

Jack Nicholson Thank You GIF

Why? Champaign kid that would’ve been the youngest player on our team. Over 2:1 assist/turnover ratio for a top 5 team and he can shoot it and play D. I don’t care if he lost time down the stretch. He’s 18 years old.
I live in Tucson and watch him play in person a few times a year. He's just not that great, feels kinda slow to me when watching him. I get the Champaign connection, but if I was opening the pocket book to poach an AZ player it would be Jaden Bradley. Just love that kids game, tough as nails.

pretty much this. if you had asked me a few weeks ago about Boswell, I'd have said he's an automatic take (despite not great results with AZ). his lackluster results of late leave a lot of questions. I no longer think he's an automatic take. we might be able to do better.

On Boswell, I think he’s shown flashes, has a good body, good 3 point stroke, potential to be a really good defender. And he’s got good upside because of his age.

But if he were to become available, to me it all depends on circumstances whether or not he’s a take. Given his background/pedigree (former 5 star, starter on top 10 team, etc.), guessing he would want a pretty big bag and a bigger role than he currently has at Arizona. I’m not sure he’d excel in a featured role (not sure he can create for himself or others), and not sure he’s worth a big bag.

I’d be thrilled if he was our robin next year, but I’m not sure he’s a Batman and don’t think he’s worth Batman money, if that makes sense.

People saying no to a player who started for a sweet 16 team, had a 2:1 Asisst:TO ratio, shot 38% from 3, is from Champaign, and we need a player at his position are insane.

Who do you think we’re gonna get… Tyger Campbell??
People really aren't thinking through what it means that he's still 18.

He's got two years in the rotation for Arizona and he's younger than anyone on our team. He's the same age as our incoming freshmen.

And the fact that he's had a couple of bad games in prime time seems to be leading people to be pretty harsh. The body of work overall has been solid even given a tough situation that seems like not a good fit for him.

they aren't? while all that is well and true, his results lately have been pedestrian (being kind here). anyway, what you or I think means squat

You just have to wonder where the kid’s head is at. There has been smoke around him for months, despite his being a major contributor on a very good team. Obviously, he is not bought into something in that program, and one foot out the door is not a great mindset for success on the court.
Whats the problem, and would it be any better in Champaign? BU & co need to get to the root of it before they either pass on a really talented local kid or take on a malcontent.
They know the kid well. Hopefully they choose wisely.

One thing I've noticed about BU in interviews is that he says Illinois's a great program . . . . .

Those are the little things that may seep into the minds of future targets. More he says it, the more people believe it.

Now, there's been proof the last few years.

I hear that we are going to petition the NCAA for one more year of eligibility for Ray J Dennis because he was apparently brain dead when he chose Baylor over Illinois last year.

One of the most frustrating things in all of our years of recruiting misses was looking back in retrospect and usually thinking the player had made the right decision in spurning us.

Tough luck RayJ!

He looked really bad against Clemson last night. As did most of the guys on Arizona.

I know Mumcilovic had a stinker but if he’s at all unhappy in Ames and doesn’t go to the league I’d love to have him he could be a fantastic Domask replacement especially if we get a natural PG next year

fully expect Hansberry to shock some fans next season. FWLIW, I'd rather have him than the Serbian Milwaukee ISU kid (acknowledging they play slightly different positions and don't have exactly the same skill sets)
