We will have to agree to disagree. Coleman is a very good college player and has been and would be a valuable Illini. But he is no where near an NBA player.
He is projected at 48 or so recently. I would consider a solid NIL sure deal like TSJ did but who knows. He may roll the dice like Kofi too.

Does this loss kill recruiting momentum? Got embarrassed on the national stage.
It certainly doesn’t affect our NIL bag and Underwood can say “Man w a guy like you on our team we wouldnt have gotten punked by UConn. You’re the missing piece.”

Gonna go into more details on who staying/leaving likely the next couple of days along with portal guys. I expect us to keep a good amount of guys who are eligible to come back, there will be a couple leaving. Amani Luke and Ty seem like safe bets to stay, along with DGL as of now

We just made the elite 8 and won the big ten tourney. Not even close. We got pounded by maybe the best college basketball team in the last 10-15 years
The best team won and with another chance BU may make an adjustment or two but we had some good looks, just missed open threes, FTs and bunnies and got beat in transistion. You can't do that against UConn. Learn from this and get better.

I too hope we add a big body to bang at times as needed but I trust BU to get some of the top transfers and be battling again for the B10 next season.

Add Boswell, Kalkbrenner, and Storr and we're right back here next March.

Don't know the odds of us landing any of those guys but a man can dream.
That is a March team for sure, I agree. But not one that goes deep. ... It would give us a shot, of course, as fortune is critical in the NCAA tournament.

I would love Hawkins to get a great NIL and do what TSJ did by coming back and add some studs. Also I hope Morez is the best freshman we have had in years.

I get the sense the staff don't have the faith in Dain to make him a centerpiece from an on-court and NIL payroll perspective and believe they can get more with those resources elsewhere.

And in my opinion they're wrong.
The NIL piece makes it all very interesting. Dain isn’t gonna get NBA money, so he absolutely should be looking to maximize his college basketball income.

And Illinois needs to decide if they’re willing to match his best offer for an offensively-skilled, but defensively-limited big man.

How? In the current NIL landscape the opportunity cost of using a sizeable chunk of NIL on Dain just doesn't make it feasible.

Love the guy and he saved us in the BTT and in the Morehead game but we're a big boy program trying to win nattys now.

That guy has first team All-Big Ten in him. Completely unguardable player.

I pray he stays, and if he goes the team that bets on him with a fat NIL stack is going to win that bet.

I want Dain to stay, but he's not a feature guy. We need stretch 5 at his level or higher. With Morez coming and Amani staying and almost assuredly a talented 5 from the portal, minutes will be slim at the 4/5.
