lol wut?

Seems most think we needed Podz schollie for Skyy. Again lol on that decision.

I don’t really follow the nba other than to check out Ayo’s stats. Is Podz really ROY? Not sure if serious. I’ll have to go search that.
He was consensus top 5 rookie and was invited to rising star challenge. May have fallen off a little recently

If Goode has a HUGE role for next year's team, we are in trouble. He should not play meaningful minutes for a good team.

Yeah I’m not sure what Goode could be looking for in another opportunity. He can’t create his own shot, so he will be a 3 pt specialist wherever he goes. When he was healthy he got 20-25 minutes on a top 10-15 team. And I think he’s in line for a similar role next year. I guess if he moves down to a lower level P5 or mid major maybe he could start and play closer to 30 mpg, but personally I don’t see getting a few more shots/minutes and fighting for a spot in the NIT as preferable to his situation at Illinois. But to each his own. He’s been a great program guy. Wish him the best in whatever he decides.

The value of Goode's minutes were quite inconsistent. He came on towards the end of the year and made some clutch plays, but there were many games where he was a liability on defense and was clanking open 3's.
He was only a defensive liability to the extent he was fouling every time down the floor, which was very frustrating.

But he cleaned that up and is a plus and versatile defender, sneaky good rebounder, and the threat of his shot has a gravitational pull on opposing defenses which creates the space other players need to perform.

Goode standing in the corner will give AJ Storr the sliver of daylight he needs, as it did for TSJ.

Boswell, Storr, Hill, Maddox, Davis, TBD Big guy ...

In addition to Ty, Rez, DGL, Hansberry, Butler

Redshirt Jakstys and leave a ride open ... Or if Goode stays/Hawkins return  ...

What do we think ???
From a fantasy perspective, sounds good. Can they play together as a team? No one knows.

It’s not like we’re kicking kicking anyone out and you can’t force a kid to stay. Moretti role will never be more than what it was this year. He can go down a level and play. Just don’t see it with Buck on the offensive end, and it’s still not a forgone conclusion Luke is leaving.
This^^^ Continuity would be great, but you can’t make a kid stay if they want to leave. We aren’t kicking people out and there is no perfect formula for this. Adam Miller, Skyy Clark, and Jayden Epps all played a ton and left. Guys don’t play as much as they want and they leave. This is the world we are in right now and you can’t have 5 guys on the roster.

I’d rather win games and make deep tourney runs with guys that are here for a year or two than roll with 8 freshman every year and not know whether they are going to stay or not. I totally get that it’s different than what we are used to, but it is what it is.

I can't believe Goode would leave. He's in line for a HUGE role next year.

And lets not forget that we let NBA Rookie of the Year Brandin Podziemski leave because we wanted Luke Goode to start. Now we're Creaning him? What are we doing here?

I don’t think the coaching staff sees him as anything more than a Role player that can shoot 3s when the team is in a funk. He had quite a few games this year where his minutes went way down when our defense was bad

Is this going to be like when the white Sox signed Manny Machados cousin to try to entice him only to not offer enough and see him go to the Padres?
Sox is cheap. We are not.

Better get used to it or find a new sport to follow because it's not gonna change because you dont like it

What percentage of his two point shots were layups or dunks. Do Ty and Sencie show well enough to be on the floor at the same time.
I think people tend to magnify specific player shortfalls or advantages for confirmation bias of their own opinions rather than look at the full picture (I fall victim to this as well). Overall, while you do need to be concerned by team fit and how you fit in the offense, assuming that 2 different types of players both get the same shot opportunities from areas they most often get to while playing within the offense, so long as the shooting percentage is the same it doesn't matter as much where you're taking that shot so long as it doesn't negatively effect rebound opportunities or defense. That said, most of Justin's and Sencire's opportunities for twos came at the rim. Sencire's maybe a foot or two closer on average. And many of Sencire's came from steals and transition buckets while Justin's were almost exclusively in the half-court offense, so there could be something to be said there.

As for playing with Ty, Sencire played a lot with him last year, Justin played a lot with him this year. Justin had the higher overall teammate quality, Sencire still had the better overall numbers, so if we think Justin as a net positive in 19mpg here, Sencire based on the numbers would likely have been just as effective if not slightly better on offense while being a much better defender. People can certainly say offense isn't Sencire's strength and there are better options on that end of the court, and I'd agree with that, but the same is also true for Justin, so I do think there's an argument here that Sencire getting around 20mpg wouldn't be an issue. That said, if he were to want 30+, he probably won't get that here this year.

winning the third most games in program history and making an elite eight. That's not good enough? There is no point worrying about any of this until the roster is set. Brad knows what he's doing.
Listen, I'm the one always defending BU against some of the looney tunes around here. I have tremendous faith in him.

But I also watch basketball and have my own opinions.

What we're seeing in the PortalWorld is the value of having battle-tested seniors all over the roster. Dain Dainja and Luke Goode are, among other things, battle-tested seniors.

No one is getting creaned
Our NIL power is such that if we want to keep Goode and Dainja, we can make that happen. It would come at a cost to our other ambitions, but we could choose to make it so.

We chose not to with Dain. I hope we're not making the same decision with Goode.

Experience and continuity are valuable assets.

From what I am hearing, who knows if it is true, is that every transfer away from the program has been Brad’s doing, with the exception of Epps. I asked my guy is Goode is the same, and he said yeah, if Goode is gone it’s because Brad doesn’t have a spot for him. Hate that if it’s true 😔

We can pay all the NIL we want but his role is never going to be more than it was this year. 20-22mpg. We would gladly take him back but if he wants to see what else is out there that's his prerogative. He's already graduated.

The days of developing players is over. You better come ready or be prepared to work hard and learn from the transfers ahead of you. Maybe Redshirt sophomore or junior year you start.
I used be excited by recruiting classes and watching them grow in the system. That’s over
