If he comes here, it'll be to play the 6th man microwave scoring role. He would still play on ton on a likely very solid team in his home state
Interesting. I will be very pleasantly surprised if he chooses that path. Lead ball handler who’s been 45.1% and 40.2% from 3 the past two years and has IMO a very well rounded game should be starting somewhere. Closer to the level of a RayJ than a Harmon, IMO.

We’re at the stage in the offseason where words matter. We’re overpaying for one player, aren’t we?

I actually think Ty is only MISSING one dimension: outside shooting. Great motor, plus defender, plus rebounder, decent passer, high BBIQ, can post up, improving FT shooter …
Honestly, don't think him not being able to shoot is a big deal. Just needs to get better finishing around the rim and attacking the basket then shooting free throws(70ish %).

Its college basketball, you don't need everyone to shoot and he does so many other things well.

Royce White was an absolute monster as a point forward and he couldn't shoot at all. He was a bit bigger than Ty but no reason Ty can't become that type of player(he already is a bit).

I'd prefer a box man.

If Maddox is coming here to be a six man then we're getting a lot more than 1 player.
I’m not referring to Maddox. Interested to see what’s in Storr…
The tea leaves I'm reading say, 'No Storr, no Maddox...' But I have to wear reading glasses.... so may be misreading....

tenaciousD, you may not get what Pepe is referring to..... They are best buds and played together growing up....

In an earlier post, I said that I had reservations about Storr. I also conceded that if BU was SURE Storr would buy in, it could work. The latest rumor that Storr is demanding 1M/yr and passed on 750k/yr from KS has me even more concerned.

The demand says to me that there is a massive ego that is disconnected from reality. That, coupled with the rumors that his mom is batsh*t crazy, and likely stoking his ego, have me leaning toward a strong pass. His numbers don't justify anywhere near that number IMO. People could say WI was a bad fit. Okay. I watched ~6 WI games this year. WI wins games by playing team ball. Everyone follows the (boring) system. Its repetitive. It works. Storr did not play team ball. When the ball got to him, it stuck. Opponents knew this. The WI offense died. People say he was selfish because WI had no offense. I think a fair chunk of that worked in reverse. We know from past experience that when people know the ball is going to stick, they stop moving. "No point."

If we do pay the silly amount, can/will BU really bench him hard when he doesn't follow instructions or practice hard or defend hard? Will the major NIL contributors tear BU a new one if he does bench him? Will Storr change when benched, or will he listen to his mom, get pissy, take the money, and move on next year? I really wish there was a way to write NIL contracts to be based on things like players actually playing. Then, players would have to decide between their ego and the money.

Want to keep a good culture? When in doubt ... no hire. Who else is in the portal?

I'm not so sure that wasn't a marketing ploy.... What better way to drum up your own value then to have 'certain' people post this sort of propaganda..... I take all that with a grain of salt...... I'm sure there is a lot of $$ being thrown around nowadays, the kind of $$ I'd certainly be envious of, but the best way to maximize your take, is to make a suitor think you are being prioritized by another suitor.... part of the game. I doubt the truly valuable players don't even need to resort to publicizing their offers.

Storr is a good player but he didn’t elevate Wisconsin. If the choice is paying him most of our NIL money and not having much for other guys, I’d take the other guys

We need at least 4-5 legit producers. I suppose it depends on the total amount we have to spend.

I still am waiting for the day when actual companies start sponsoring teams out right. Jimmy John’s could sponsor our entire team and he could pay these guys and get it back in the advertising made on it

I don't disagree with your concerns about Storr. But in the end, it isn't up to you or I. It's up to Brad. He will make the decision and our team will live or die with the outcome. If this is a done deal as many insiders seem to be indicating, we just have to hope that our reservations about this transfer are unfounded, that Brad and team have done their due diligence, and that we'll see much more team oriented ball from Storr than we did from him at Wisconsin for much of the season.

As a long time Illini fan, I just cannot come to grips yet with the Pay-to-Play world we seem to be in now. It's a huge adjustment for me. And while I understand the current landscape of NCAA sports, I find it hard to just jump in with both feet and be okay with how this is all shaking out. TSJ, and Domask earned my trust fairly early in their tenures,. but I am doubtful that is a guaranteed yearly outcome.

Most of us have no clue what price the market bears. We have no clue what's available here or in other spots. So without context it's impossible to judge what is reasonable or not.

Let's get Storr; make him the anchor of our portal successes. I have no idea of the money angle, but we can assure him plenty of PT and he's exactly the type of player we need.

"a guaranteed yearly outcome?" c'mon. that isn't how this works
