Best of luck to Sencire, but as others have said, he wasn't/isn't the caliber player that would have made an impact on this team. Hard worker, but very limited. Let's not make it seem like we just lost an All B1G player here
Just for argument's sake, Sencire put up better numbers offensively his freshman year than Justin Harmon put up this past year as a supersenior on an Elite 8 team, and Justin played 19mpg on average this year. As well, Sencire would be our no doubt best defender and an easy All-B10 defensive team contender. He also singlehandedly won us multiple games as a freshman, and generally players improve as an upperclassman. From everything we've heard he's a great teammate and culture guy, runs on pure effort, and makes his teammates play better. While you can certainly argue his offense is limited (from what we saw of it freshman year), as a player, unless you completely devalue defense, there's no argument to be made that he wasn't impactful in his time here, and again, he did that as a true freshman. In fact, I think there are ways to get someone with his skillset 20mpg even on a B10 title contender. And if you think that's incorrect, let's look at some of the players on our past few contenders:

Sencire Harris: 14mpg, 48.7% 2pt, 31.7% 3pt, 20.0%FT, 4.6OR%, 11.4DR%, 11.2Ast rate, 16.1TO rate, 2.3blk%, 3.3stl%

23-24 Elite 8: Justin Harmon: 19mpg, 47.3% 2pt, 30.6% 3pt, 91.5%FT, 5.5OR%, 10.2DR%, 9.6Ast rate, 13.0TO rate, 0.7blk%, 1.3stl%
21-22 4 seed: Damonte: 28mpg, 28.3% 2pt, 32.5% 3pt, 53.1%FT, 4.0OR%, 15.1DR%, 14.2Ast rate, 17.6TO rate, 1.1blk%, 1.7stl%
20-21 1 seed: Damonte: 25mpg, 45.9% 2pt, 54.7% 3pt, 68.1%FT, 5.0OR%, 18.4DR%, 10.2Ast rate, 15.5TO rate, 1.3blk%, 1.8stl%
19-20 Covidity: Damonte: 21mpg, 42.3% 2pt, 26.8% 3pt, 65.0%FT, 2.8OR%, 16.0DR%, 10.0Ast rate, 23.8TO rate, 1.7blk%, 1.9stl%

So outside of the 20-21 season where Damonte was clearly better overall, it's fairly apparent that freshman Sencire clearly outperformed supersenior Justin and junior Damonte, and arguably outperformed supersenior Damonte or at the very least was very comparable. Note that each one of those players were 20mpg players. And again, this is all under the assumption that Sencire wouldn't improve on his freshman year!

Now perhaps you'd say Justin and Damonte had no impact on our teams either and shouldn't be playing, but the counterargument to that is that they did in fact play 20mpg, and Sencire is a better defender, so 20mpg shouldn't be out of the question. In any case, just some food for thought. If Sencire does leave, he'll be a great benefit to whoever he plays for.

Dude, relax. I wish him the best as well. I’m not going to apologize for not liking our program having a mostly wasted roster spot during the season on a team that could’ve used an elite on ball defender when SH would’ve been that.

This program and Fletch do well developing players. I’d prefer it to be for the betterment of the future of THIS program though.

I'm just gonna say it: I don't want AJ Storr. It's not the talent, I don't like the vibes. I don't like decommitting from the Illini only to play hot potato with his next two teams. I don't like turning down Kansas and their $750k because he's dead-set on making $1M. We have a culture where the players and Brad said there's no cliques, everyone's chill and having fun, and this guy is gonna gunk the whole locker-room up and this time we don't have Mayer to deck him unless Hawkins comes back.
I have an uneasy feeling about him as well. Mostly from his transfer history and what I saw from how he acted on the court. Also, he was a bit of a chucker.

But on the other hand, I trust Underwood.

But hey he isn’t going to the NBA so I guess we should be happy we developed him more this season for some other program.

We’re returning so many people from this year how could we ever get him on the court next season??/s

Getting into a bidding war with college athletes Where might this lead universities and college basketball?

#611
We certainly could of used a little more defense against UConn. 30 to zero. ??????????

1. you're not including postseason dates in your calculation. There were two more potential conference tournament games and 6/7 NCAA tournament games that would put him under the 30% threshold.

2. Their were two COVID seasons for basketball(2019-2020 and 2020-2021). Your only example of this is Cam Spencer but Spencer played in the 2nd half of the season so he doesn't meet the criteria.
SIU played their 2 conference tournament games (they lost to Loyola in the quarterfinals) and they were 12-14 on the year, so there were no potential NCAA tournament games…unless the argument is having Domask for those last 16 games would have changed their record.

Him hiring a lawyer gives me some hope, and some of the insiders saying there’s a chance is promising, but I don’t see how the math equates to them having 30 games to reach that 10% threshhold.

You've clearly not graduated from the US NAVY's Fleet SONAR school like I did many many moons ago, used to be in Key West Fl along side the SOSUS school. LOL
While I was at the Marine Geology Lab at IU, I worked with ONR on a Boomer problem back in the '70s. After all this time I wouldn't have to kill you if I told you exactly what I did, just look really hard at you and scowl.

"Oh, gee, Domask is coming back, i guess I will pass on my 1 million dollars, and find "greener pastures." said Michael Storr, never.

I’ll take a chipotle or Qdoba or Moe’s.
Moe's is absolute trash, and a burrito is in no way like a sandwich.

Sure, in which case I am more of a brat guy.

To me…. A sub is a lot like a burrito. Just different carbs. I’ll take a chipotle or Qdoba or Moe’s.

However I do like cheesesteak sandwich places like…. Pepper Jax is amazing. Though that might be just from my neck of the woods. 10/10 recommend.
I'm on board with the brats, my favorite sausage by far!

I'm lost on the burrito comparison, it's different carbs inside and outside, and different meats, toppings and sauces...

But I do love a good cheesesteak and sometimes enjoy ordering one at places that have no business making them just to see how they screw it up. Do you take yours wit wiz or provolone ?

It was obvious TSJ would be back in the court quickly. Doesn’t take an insider to realize that. Just a common understanding of the judicial system

My understanding is that it counts any potential postseason contests.

They could have potentially played 2 more games in the conference tournament and 6-7 to games in the NCAA tourney. I would need to go find the rule again though.

Pretty sure drinks were flowing. He’s not coming back. Trust me in this one. Insider? I’ll never give my sources. Besides flat out common sense.
