The vast majority of teams in college ball don't have a Clingan or Edey at Center. You can get away with playing a PF type (Amani, Morez, Hawkins) at Center against just about anyone (but UConn or Purdue).

I want a guy like Clingan (more so than Edey) as much as anyone, but there aren't a lot of them to go around.

Keep in mind Golden State won a few NBA Titles with no starter taller than 6'8.
But do Steph Curry's grow on trees in the portal???

Storr and Boswell would certainly qualify as "big time"

And I think the value of the grizzled 5th year mid-major with a high-major translatable game has certainly been demonstrated this year when you look at what guys like Cam Spencer and Dalton Knecht are doing, not to mention Domask.

Coleman vs No Coleman makes such a titanic difference in that regard it's a little tough to define what our needs would be.

I think we know for certain that Coleman's intent was to go pro. But if he's actually going to have surgery that takes him out of the pre-draft process, I'm sure other possibilities creep into consideration.
If CH returns it will probably be as a stretch 4 predominately, with a small dose at 5 per his wishes. He needs to showcase his strengths like guarding 1-4,pick and pop, passing,BB smarts, etc.Think we will pursue a true 5 if CH is back.

I like the kid we’re zooming with …
Yeah is that why someone posted the OSU flag a few pages back with no context? Brandon Garrison looks pretty interesting. (Or maybe they're talking to Carey Booth? edit: He seems more like a Coleman type player than a true 5. Still looks interesting, though.)

Wait...when did Cam Cohen enter the portal?? Sorry if I missed any messages in regards, but is he someone the staff is interested in? I see you have him listed as a high priority, but I haven't seen anyone chatter about him to Illinois anywhere. He was one I was bummed we missed out on the first time around.
I keep a link to the post where he is mentioned by an insider on the first column of the tracker. Was earlier this week and suggested that Chester still has an in with him.

Brandon Garrison would be a very welcome addition, might have their center at Michigan already, why not us?

Should have prefaced last post by acknowleging Mike Boyton connection with Garrison, also Michigan is rumored to like both Golden and Yale center.

Maybe even 2 centers between Vlad and Wolf? So yeah, why not us indeed (y)
edit: was too slow to get in before your second post. But is there a world where Boynton discourages Garrison from coming to a B1G rival?

Rivals need to win games in order to be real.Seems like anything goes in NCAA BB these days.

Players have talked with coaches a bit this week. Official meetings are going to start on Monday, so we should start to see some movement then. I expect 2 more transfers out and at most 3. I think there is a legit chance for both Marcus and Coleman to come back. A lot of factors will play into that though-Marcus waiver is probably 50/50, Coleman could depend on his knee.

They really want Maddox. I think they like Hill as well. Also, Boswell should be entering the portal next week. The question is do you take two of those guys plus a wing or two (Storr or someone else)? This could piss off a couple of guys on the team but it gives you more proven talent right away. Also I know they really want a stretch 4 and also maybe a 5, so that will be interesting to see what happens as well.

They really like these three kids at the four (we have been linked to all three publicly as well):

I know Amani wants to stay and the staff loves him but if they add two bigs, would be interesting to see what his outlook would be. Still think he would stay, but I would be curious to see what happens with that

Also, AJ Storr remains the #1 priority right now. Kentucky is our main challenger there but I think we have a clear edge right now. Gonna try and close that one down in the next couple of weeks.

I expect them to add at least four transfers, could be five or six depending on who leaves and what happens with Marcus and Coleman. They are hoping to have a Domask answer in the next two to three weeks

Garrison would be a solid pick-up and would look great in the O&B but having two non-shooters (him and Ty) in your starting line-up would be no bueno.

Yeah..but having a 5 that is actually a shooter is fairly rare...especially if we want a guy bigger than Coleman.

Cam Corhen seems like a nice fit though, right? I thought I read he was a shooter, and I vaguely remembering recruiting him...think he was a late-bloomer in high school and committed somewhat later, but we lost out?

Insiders...Is Corhen a good option or an option at all for us??

If we land the majority of our transfer targets, the only way Ty will start is if we see unprecedented improvement in his shooting skills. From what I'm hearing, he'll provide frontcourt depth next season.

Supposedly Garrison only measures in at 6’8 and not his listed 6’11

While he was generously listed at 6-foot-11, after measuring in at closer to 6-foot-8 in high school, Garrison provides size, length, and a sturdy interior presence. He can executive defensive coverages and offensive sets alike and is typically credited for his good awareness on both ends of the floor.

That’s from 247
