I thought it had something to do with him being a generous 6'2.Not Indy. But he never said he’d pass on Maddox. He likes Maddox

I’m liking this planOverall, they want:
A lead pg
A 2/3 that has some versatility (Maddox, Hill, Oweh, etc)
Storr
Stretch 4 if Coleman is gone
5 man no matter what
Homegrown talent in this case was referring to high school recruits (i.e. similar to a farm system/draft prospects). Had nothing to do with geographic location of said recruits. I do not have an issue with using the portal and we've used it very successfully. Where I do start to have an issue is when we are no longer simply recruiting to fill open spots and supplement our roster, but to also block the path of development of prized recruits and may cause locker room issues for what may wind up being nominal gains for the sake of "min-maxing" season roster optimization. I just don't see Amani being relegated to deep depth this season when he was likely expecting at least backup duty on an entirely open roster going into offseason, or Ty being relegated to the bench after likely expecting a starting spot going all that well. That said, the argument against what I'm saying is that Cal has made similar structures work with a new swath of 5* freshmen every year and has won a title and this approach isn't too dissimilar. That said, I have concerns about chemistry, leadership, and morale. And I think Amani could be a very capable backup, and Ty a very capable starter next year if given the opportunity, just like I think Sencire could've been a very capable starter this year had we given him the opportunity instead of signing Justin Harmon. But that's entirely up for debate and I'm certainly happy to agree to disagree.I guess by homegrown talent you mean Sencire (Ohio), Amani (Maryland) and Ty (Michigan)? It seems you are mixing your complaint in a way that doesn't work. We could return to the days of going only for local players and waiting for them to develop but while we are developing them, they are slipping out the portal elsewhere. BU is working with the system as it has to be in the current set of rules. I see that you don't like the system but it is how the game is played. Like (apparently) the stationary screen the old way is gone. Survive and advance.
Haven’t you heard? Sky’s falling!Ty and Amani are leaving?
The staffs job is to put together the best possible roster every year. Doesn’t matter where those players come from.
And I recall how poorly our fans treated him at times before he did so.There is a guy who developed a credible 3 point shot and thereby became a dramatically more valuable player on our very coaching staff for Ty to talk to!
Ok insiders, if you had your pick of any of the 5’s in the portal currently who would pick?Maddox and Oweh aren’t mutually exclusive.
I disagree with you about Sencire and Ty’s value as starters at the elite college level because of their offensive limitations given their size. We got away with Ty this year because we had Coleman to stretch the floor, and even then, Ty only played an average of about 22-23 minutes a game. Now, both Ty and Sencire DO have significant value in a bench role as defenders, rebounders, hustle guys, etc. But there probably isn’t a need for 2 of those guys on your bench, and then there is the issue of getting those guys to buy in to those roles instead of going looking for a bigger role on a different team.Homegrown talent in this case was referring to high school recruits (i.e. similar to a farm system/draft prospects). I watched them vs Indiana State, the 6'8" guard from Lithuania (lukosis) has a beautiful stroke and quick release. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Matchup issue at 6'8" had 26 that night, and shoots almost 40% from 3I don't think anyone on that team is good enough to play for us ...
I’d like to believe this because his free throws got better, but it’s been 20 yrs and he doesn’t even consider taking them in games, so I’m skeptical.Ty developing a mid range shot in the off season is very doable IMO.
No, hadn't ever heard that before. You don't say... My argument is that at some point you get diminishing returns and perhaps even negative returns. 6 new portal signings a year isn't always better than 4 which isn't always better than 3, even if those 6 recruits all theoretically look better on paper. Chemistry, leadership, morale, and familiarity with the system all come into play at some point in my opinion. But hey, I could be wrong. I mean I for one have never seen a group of new starters come in and have those theoretical issues...You realize every other team is trying to upgrade talent too, right?
Not me. I want all the circles filled in on my shot chart.View attachment 33278
When you want the shot charts to look like this the 15 footer doesn’t do a whole lot.
Dollar for dollar, hard to be WT101I appreciate Bulleit, Buffalo Trace, McKenna, etc., and lots of JD in college, but Wild Turkey 101 has been my go to for 40 years. And my grandfather's before that.
Man there's a lot I like-Ok State kid, a couple others, but man give me Raynaud or Wolf and I am thrilled. Raynaud will be at worst a second team all conference player and I think Wolf can get to that and he's got 2 years. Either way I would be thrilled. Wolf will be very much in play if Vlad goes to MichiganOk insiders, if you had your pick of any of the 5’s in the portal currently who would pick?
Cam Spencer didn't get it at UConn.
It's really not that subjective or complicated. It's not like the "hardship" one that Luke Ford was denied with a compelling case whereas Justin Fields got it the same offseason with no apparent case at all.
Exactly. There were other isolated cases of teams canceling mid-season. None of those players are getting a season.Spencer did play his 5 games at the end of the season, which is counter to what the rulebook on medical redshirts says. Domask played in more games than are allowed under the rulebook, regardless of any possible definition of the length of that SIU season, tweeted rumors to the contrary being flatly and obviously incorrect as ten seconds of googling indicate.
But neither matters.
The operative fact is that the NCAA has repeatedly made clear that no eligibility can be given back for 2020-21 because no eligibility was expended.
You know who really got screwed by this? Ivy League players. The Ivy League canceled their entire season due to Covid, the teams shut down, no games, no practices, Ivy League basketball did not exist.
A star UNC women's player who transferred from Princeton sought a waiver to give her back that season that was lost based on the league's decision. She was denied

In her lone season with UNC, Littlefield averaged 8.8 points per game while starting all 32 contests at point guard.chapelboro.com
St. John's has two former Ivy League players in the same position. They are also seeking waivers like Domask currently
Jordan Dingle and Chris Ledlum apply for fifth-year waivers
Both players missed the 2020-21 seasons due to the Ivy League season cancellationwww.rumbleinthegarden.com
"Both players’ waiver applications are unlikely to be accepted"
Feel free to dislike the NCAA's rationale here. But it is absolutely objective and clear and has been applied in a resolutely consistent manner, which will continue in Domask's case.

Amani is a different case. He could be awesome some day, but the staff might be questioning whether he’s ready to start next year. But I do think that as long as he’s healthy he would play a much more significant bench role next year than he did this year. So in his case I am definitely hoping that he stays and continues to develop and he could easily be a starter as a Jr and Sr imo if he can stay healthy.
I think Ty and Sencire are just kind of unique cases as guards who can’t shoot well, unfortunately.
"Trusting" your existing players and refusing to aggressively engage the transfer portal to fill obvious gaps and upgrade your roster is how you end up with MSU's season. That's a one-way ticket to finishing 0.500 in conference. No thanks. No, hadn't ever heard that before. You don't say... Do you consider the Evanston big a suprise?Seems like this thread has bandied about every name in the portal. Are there any BU is pursuing that would be a surprise....obviously not looking for names.
After his meeting with TommyHas Kylan Boswell officially entered the portal yet? If not, insiders, any idea when?
No. If it happens (I think it will but we will see) it will be in the next few daysHas Kylan Boswell officially entered the portal yet? If not, insiders, any idea when?
Correct. Player meetings for a lot of schools are officially next week, so we will see a couple guys of our own likely portalAfter his meeting with Tommy
