After catching up on the last several pages of this thread a few things come to mind. Being an old guy, I love the culture guys who stay the course like Coleman, Trent, Damonte, etc., but let's not forget what happened last season. Our highest ranked freshman recruit was given the starting PG job. He left the team before the season was over. So then our next highest rated freshman was given the starting PG job. He left as soon the season was over. How do you build culture on that? Should BU have passed on Domask so we could develop culture with DGL and Nico? Oh and by the way, would CH have come back if we had not gotten older? I seem to remember that was something Coleman said needed to happen in order for him to return. Five of our first eight or nine were transfers and we went further than we had in nineteen years. 19 YRS! Give me wins! Winning builds culture. Also, I have no idea if MD gets the waiver or not but if he does, after watching his improvement as the season progressed, how he handled the ISU defense, I have complete confidence in his ability to handle the point.

Shannon didn't hire attorneys to go to U of I and beg mercy. He hired attorneys to go to court.
If Domask has attorneys it's not to appeal to NCAA. It's to bring this to court.
The first step may be an appeal to ncaa because he'll have to demonstrate to the court that he's exhausted his administrative remedies, so to speak.
But the hiring of the attorneys is essentially admitting he can only win in court.

The only way I see Domask succeeding in court is by breaking the 5 years to play 4 rule. Breaking that would make the current chaos of college basketball look tame. We'd have a competing pro league with players "staying in college" for a decade. I really hope I'm missing something. Otherwise this path looks extremely selfish -- attempting to ruin college sports as we know it to get a personal paycheck bigger than the one he'd get overseas.
So, I haven't looked into this at all on my own, my comment here is just based on what other people have said on these boards, but it seems to me that there IS some room for a court to rule in Domask's favor here without completely obliterating the 5 years to play 4 rule in general. And that would be if a court ruled that it's not fair for the NCAA to deny Domask a medical waiver (and presumably this would apply to other players that were hurt during a covid year and were since denied medical waivers, too) since he happened to be hurt during a covid year, whereas someone else might've played the whole covid year, been hurt a different year and gotten a waiver, and ended up still being able to play a full 5 years even after being hurt the majority of a 6th year in there. Hopefully that explanation makes sense.
If this happened, I would think it would mean that many players that were denied waivers during the covid year would have those denials reversed, but it wouldn't get rid of the 5 years to play 4 rule in general, since it would still only affect players that were in college during covid. So moving forward it would have no impact. Anyway, I'm not a lawyer so I could have it wrong, but there just seems to be some middle ground in there to me.
Let’s not run off TY. Soon to be junior, and a former 4 star recruit who picked us over other big time programs. Every coach in the Country wants thst on their top 10 teams. His shooting can and will improve. 6’8” point forward who can d up and rebound. Truthfully, I like him a lot more than QG who was a good fit and similarly thought of and ranked.
I did however think QG played too much after throwing up some terrible shots against UConn in the first half but coach didn’t see that he wasn’t going to do much good and continued giving him big minutes in the second half that should’ve went to TY. I cringed every time QG touched the ball knowing something ridiculous was going to happen. CH struggled big time against UConn, too. Hansberry and Dainja were much more effective in their time. It’s about impossible to turn on QG and CH, but it wasn’t even close to their night. It wasn’t TSJ’s night either, but you can’t sit a guy like him even if that outing was brutal.
Wishing we get Marcus one more year!

I personally believe, with no firsthand knowledge whatsoever, that the Domasks hired an attorney to intimidate the NCAA. It's easier to get them to grant a waiver when they're staring down the barrell of yet another courtroom loss. Especially a courtroom loss that could entirely upset their billion dollar apple cart.
Rice is a pass first point guard with elite separation and shot creation. He also won PAC12 freshman of the year and was all PAC12 first team. Yeah sorry but I’ll take that over a ball hog that’s just looking for the biggest paycheck any day
The first issue is that he's not close to 6'8". At 6'8", you could accept the lack of perimeter shooting.
The second issue is that he's not even bothering to look to shoot. He's taken one three point attempt in two years. He doesn't even look at the hoop. So, it's not just a matter of becoming a stronger shooter, it's a complete offensive mindset lobotomy.
Everyone loves Ty and hopefully he'll be here for two more years. That said, we need five guys that are threats to put the ball in the hole, on the floor, at all times.
Ty Rodgers is a stud man. If he can play some 3-4 for us this upcoming year that’d amazing.

We have better 3 point shooters. Nothing wrong with deferring that job to others and knowing your strengths. It’s not like we didn’t shoot enough threes with the guys who did chuck them up. He will be vital to any Top 10 team, top 5 with improved shooting. I hope it’s ours.
It has been posted here many times, clearly, that Sencire redshirted 100% by his own choice. Not sure why it keeps getting brought up. Just as it is his choice to leave this year, if he chooses. I loved his enthusiasm and support for the team, as well as his instant defense when he did play. I will wish him the best!!

Lot of smoke out there. Still trying to talk to people and see what's going on. If he's reopening, I think there is a pretty good reason as to why (and totally understandable)
Reopening? Isn't he signed? Is this a "new" thing that kids can sign their letter of intent, then break the contract? If so, what the heck is the point of "signing day"?
