It would be great to get AJ committed and locked in - that would be a nice domino to attract other top transfers - particularly the big men that want to know they are going to a good team so they can thrive. AJ committing this week before the visits thursday can be huge boost

I doubt Storr commits anywhere until after the NBA combine. His timeline will be closer to Mayer, Shannon, RayJ Dennis late May

Definitely not an EDG then.
I see what you did. ;) That provides a whole new meaning for me of EDG. But, I also know that I preached to my kids and every kid I coached in baseball, soccer, and basketball foir many years, "Don't be afraid to ask questions and learn".

Will be interesting to see what our defensive philosophy is next year and how we recruit to that.

Post Kofi, we’ve gone with positional size and switching, but we’ve seen the limitations of that as we had trouble keeping guards out of the paint, bigger players are easier to screen, and teams can use switches to hunt mismatches.

If Sencire truly is back, he and DGL seem more in the Trent/DaMonte
/Ayo mold. Smaller but great on ball and hard to screen. I wonder if we go back to the ice/drop coverage we ran in 2021. If that’s the case I think we should prioritize an elite rim protector and Garrison from OK St would top my list.

If we prioritize bigs who are more versatile and stretch the floor, that leads me to believe we will continue down the position less basketball path and makes me wonder about the long term roster fit with both DGL and Sencire.
We obviously won't be building a defense with Harris specifically in mind, but I do think he allows us to change the equation depending on the defensive capabilities of the guys we bring in. While I think it's clear that Brad likes the idea of switch defense with interchangeable parts in theory, it's also been made just as clear that that defense will only be as strong as your weakest defender as teams will just make you switch until they get the matchup they want. Sencire really makes you want to play tight man- it allows you to attack the opposing guards, cut down on space, and make those entry passes more difficult with the opposing big in worse position when they receive it. If we were to get an additional 1 or 2 good on-ball defenders, then with Sencire, Ty, those 1 or 2 transfers, and possibly DGL, I think we'd be really cooking in pure man. It would also shield Morez and Amani much more than what we were allowing to reach Coleman this past year. Plus bring in an experienced 5 with some heft who can defend the opposing 5 to split time and I think we might really have something.

While it's pretty much a certainty our offensive production will fall off this year, I think it's an even bigger certainty that our defense is going to make a big leap. And while I say this every year, this is the year I think we really do go 8-9 deep if what we're bringing in is as good as the insiders are suggesting. Difference being that this year, those guys in the 6-9 bench spots are going to be like ordering off the a la carte menu to give you what you really need in that specific matchup, with that 6th and 7th guy getting a regular 10-20min.

I understand. I’m not saying he wasn’t great when he was here, but the offense still stalled with 4 out one in.
Lol did UConns offense stall playing 4 out or Arizona with Ballo? You can do a lot of different things that don't stall out your offense you just have run a scheme that isn't 4 guys standing around in the perimeter. Plenty of NBA teams run offenses without a center that shoots much.

Also, Ballo isn't Kofi. He's not the type to dump it into every possession. He's going to score off put backs, rolling to the basket, and quick post seals.

Arizona has been in the top 11 for Kenpom offenses both the last two seasons and they play as fast as nearly anyone in the country.

Not saying it's likely or anything but he would be such an incredible fit if Domask got a waiver.

Honestly good fit regardless, but would absolutely kill teams trying to double Domask.

It seemed to work out well for UConn...
Purdue's a better example as Clingan is just a freak- almost like if Meyers Leonard's potential was fully realized at Illinois. But yes, a behemoth down low and 4 guys who can score is still very effective in the college game. If you get a shot at a Kofi type player, you sign him immediately, no questions asked, and build around him.

He should've, could've been the 6th man this last season. Dude is all-B1G defense, would be thrilled if he came back.

And I have absolutely zero issue with Butler leaving, think it's a smart move on his part. Go to a lower conf for playing time and move up after 1-2 years (if he wants), or sit on the bench here. With the constant recruiting of portal guys, development is not really an enticement high-major teams can offer anymore.
Would think it is probably going to be most (all but 5 stars) people starting in the minors and proving themselves. Would seem it is more advantageous to gain playing time than just practicing with better players. May even see agreements between teams like minor leagues. Changes coming ready or not.

#SocialMediaWatchSZN post:

Morez and Dante Maddox followed one another on Instagram today or yesterday. Rez doing some recruiting?

Maddox has now recently followed Morez and Tyler Undersood, as well as two rumored Illini targets, Marcus Hill and Xavier Amos

Leonardite

Terre Haute, IN
really good stats, including ~41% from 3. don't know squat about him, but from a very brief checkout, he flippin' checks out. multi-year kid too
He's good. Avila got all the headlines, but I thought Conwell was the best player on the team. Certainly would be the best fit at the high major level. Elite ELITE shooter. Can shoot it off the catch and off the dribble. He was 41% from 3 on nearly 7 attempts per game. For comparison, Goode was our highest percentage 3 point shooter this season at 39% at a little over 4 attempts per game.
