And one final thing, Gritty has said some things about this as well, but team chemistry, maturity, and experience with a coach and systems are all intangibles but they do have importance and can cause unforeseen issues. I should perform a statistical analysis on it, but overall, 1st year transfers do tend to be a lot more of a mixed bag than transfers in their 2nd year, even at the same age. Familiarity does seem to have a significant role. That doesn't mean you shouldn't aggressively pursue the portal, but it does suggest balancing that with some development of promising young recruits.
I couldn't agree more with the last point. I'm not saying team chemistry can't be built in one year but it helps to have cohesion, experience playing togethers, and just like enjoy playing each other.

Obviously this past year was extremely talented team but what stood out when just watching mandated press stuff was that they generally seemed to like each other and that energy becomes infectious. Shannon, Coleman, Domask, and Ty really generally seemed to like each other(reason why I think Ty was so emotional at the end of the UConn game) and even guys that had up and down years like Harmon and Goode always seemed bought in. I think that's a big reason why you're seeing guys like DGL and Harris return.

The landscape has changed a bunch but pre-portal when I used to look for sleeper mid major teams that could upset teams and I could watch all season. I would target veteran teams full of guys that played together a bunch. Those types of teams are generally bought in and playing for more than just themselves.

It amazes me how many people on here believe early college numbers dictate how a player will always be. Especially those that believe in the coaching staff and Fletch's ability to develop. Many thought Domask was going to be just a role player.

There is more info than that though, right? Not just numbers. His team's (miserable lack) of success. Coming from an EDG-sort of culture or not? And is he going to transfer every year? Maybe not but come on there is more than just 'early college numbers' evident, right?

I think a good addition. If he starts or not, we need depth.

Jakstys-possible but I doubt it.

And I still am firmly in the camp neither CH or MD is back. I’d be absolutely shocked if either is.
Bummer, but expected. Thanks for the response.

I know other insiders were saying we shouldn’t expect a commitment until the dead period is up. Any word on why the Tre White commitment moved so quickly? Staff must really like the kid especially when the stats/wins don’t jump off the page.

Isn't this a similar problem with Storr? We don't seem to have an issue there.
Some don't. For me it's a red flag. But less so for White. He's transferring out of a dumpster fire with a new coach. I get that. So I'll be cautiously optimistic. Highly rated out of high school which suggests there's some talent to build on. all freshmen PAC-12. lots to like.

I just want him to be a positive in the locker room. so when people say low risk they generally mean that the guy might not grab minutes. But there can be negatives and sometimes those are exacerbated when guys are riding the bench.

I don’t believe the staff views White as a starter. My guess is they pitched that idea to him. If he wasn’t okay with it he probably wouldn’t have committed. Figure the kid just wants to win after that embarrassment of a season he had at LVille last year.

No go get Boswell, Storr, Maddox and a Big.

Reminds me of what they did with Omar Payne. Omar didn’t workout and he left.
Kid went from an NCAA tourney team to the mess that was Louisville. Guessing he decided winning was more fun and was fine with the plan Brad spelled out for him. Didn’t see much of him at Louisville, but definitely saw some skills from him when he was at USC. Maybe not a slam dunk pickup, but let’s wait to see how all the pieces fit together.

Wasn’t crazy about adding him at first but honestly like the move. Lots of upside as a scoring option off the bench
Doesn't look like a world beater right now but seems like a solid player with two more years. If the NIL # isn't high, I guess why not?

I will have to take your words for your stellar track record.

Good: A 6'7 wing who is shooting 45% with shot volume. Good rebounder. Seriously, how bad can this be?

Bad: A lot of fans saying he quit on his team. His defensive ratings, which are teammate dependent, are really bad.

I don’t know. People have been talking/hoping/wishing on here for over a year that Ty would develop a mid-range game or attempt a three. When I watch his film, I see that version of Ty except he looks like a better finisher around the rim. I would give Ty the edge in rebounding and maybe passing.
