Can we try to let DGL be a lesson to us not to judge a kid by what he did prior to joining our program? This board was lousy with takes about how many schools he went to, and how many shots he took.
He got here and according to many of BU’s public statements, was one of, if not the most hardworking player on the team. We can all observe how he stayed humble, got stronger, and got better.
Those are the values our coaches preach & model. Those are the attributes that get you on the court at the SFC.
I also know these are very young men. Who you are at 18 can be very different from who you are at 20. People do a lot of growing up in their college years. Most of us have to learn things the hard way… by making mistakes or failing to do our best. You have to take those lessons and do better.

I havent seen Boswell enter the 247 or Athletic portal rankings. Any idea where he will wind up or why that might be?

Hope some of the new names that I am seeing on this board are not soft.....we need defense and rebounding, the offense can be developed! Honestly, kind of worried about the make up and culture of the team after such a major reload. Ty, Amani, Buck, DGL and Morez all gotta be leaders and keep the culture that was set by Trent, Felix, Coleman, TJ et. al. Otherwise, we are back to square one and starting over = nightmare. Ask yourself the question, does this dude play defense, does he look like he wants to bang and go to the offensive glass, is he willing to take "no" for an answer? Portal guys are in the portal for a reason? Just saying, I am a bit worried.
Can we wait until the roster is set after the portal before we start the doom and gloom?

If EVs are a massive disappointment, then we cannot hitch Illinois' basketball program to them. Rarely will I say this, but Robert is wrong.

I mean, they're not. I think what's going on right now is just a setback. The big three were way behind on EVs, then decided to go all in and got a bit ahead of themselves since they didn't have the manufacturing process down yet to the point of making EVs affordable enough for the mass market. The national charging network is also not wonderful, yet.

But I think, after a few more years of development, EVs will be pretty successful in areas of the country where they make sense (urban, suburban).

I, for one, plan to buy one, but not for another 2ish years.

Underwood was building an EV when he took over the program and it just took him a few years to get it just right.

I appreciate you posting this. I was too lazy to look them up on my own. haha.

After watching that, I am not concerned with his size/weight. Coleman was bigger than this guy, but for whatever reason, Coleman never seemed like a 5. He seemed out of position playing the 5. He did awesome...and I think for our team, he was great in his role and I'd take another year of Coleman over Booth, but for whatever reason, Coleman seems to not handle guys posting on him. And it is not all directly size, because guys like Holmgren in the NBA are skinnier than Coleman and can handle the posting up on a bit more.

All that being said, if we get Booth, I'm happy with Booth, Rez, Amani, and Ty manning the 4/5 next year and hopefully the next couple.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. I am probably about 2 years behind you in buying one, though I will likely end up with an EHV instead of pure EV.

This EV comparison is actually perfect to the college game right now. You have the automobile purists (college purists) who do not want much change at all and hate where the regulations are going, those who may not like it but will adapt, and those who will fully embrace the change. I think BU is somewhere between the adapting and embracing stage.

Love the White add. The multi - year guys will make the 24/25 team good and the 25/26 team special or should I say ELITE. Potential for Booth and Boswell = extremely young and expect them to improve (body and skills) with time in the system.

Exciting times.

Love the insiders sharing information in real time.

FWIW, though I watch little college hoops during the season beyond the Illini games, I saw Booth play in person v. VA Tech in early March. Played ~ 25 mins. He was active, had a half-dozen boards, and stroked a sweet trey at some point. Was favorably impressed with him, their PG Burton (ACC frosh of the year IIRC) and Shrews' son, who's a true frosh and started at wing. Those three players stuck in my mind afterward.

In general, though ND was in the lower tier of the ACC this season, I found them to be a disciplined team and reminiscent of Purdue in their ball movement (unsurprising, of course.) Kept thinking to myself that, when Shrews gets a critical mass of talent, they'll be a handful. Am glad he's out of the conference.

As for Booth's weight c/w CoHawk... yeah, he's on the thin side. If we get him Fletch needs to put ~ 50-75 lbs of muscle on him.

I'll need to go look at some video of Booth because I thought I saw him listed at 6' 10" and only 205 lbs. Yikes!

EDIT:
Ok - I looked at video. He's got skill / athleticism and a little bit of dawg in him. He's only 18 and with maturity and good strength coach (I hear we have one), he could go full dawg. Keep working on that 3-stroke and he could be dangerously versatile. I'm a believer.
I hear we have 2.

I like hearing different perspectives, so I vote for everyone to chip in openly and freely. No reason not to (politely) express critiques, no reason not to be a rah-rah cheerleader.

Also, OrangeKrush1981 is assuredly not the most well-informed poster, is prone to outrageous bouts of offensive realism (well, what he imagines is realism rather then pessimism), and tends to express his ill-informed opinions in a potentially annoying and condescending manner.

And yet the bum doubles as a die-hard fan who bleeds Orange & Blue. :)

he won't be option #1,2,3,or 4. Maybe 5 or 6
This is an annoying talking out of both sides of the mouth thing.

"Oh don't worry about it, the staff loves White's attitude, he'll be an EDG, the situation was just bad at Louisville, he's hungry to compete"

but also

"Oh don't worry about it, this enormously talented NBA prospect who is going to transform his mentality under this staff will be a bench role player"

If Tre White brings a new level of effort and professionalism he is going to play a ton. If he doesn't he won't.

So we're good in that sense, I don't think people should be negative about the add, but the justifications are circular and unconvincing.

White is an upside lottery ticket. It's like a baseball team trading for a pitcher with great stuff who can't hit the strike zone and has bad results. You either get an ace or nothing.

He just went in. I’m sure in next day or two he’ll have rating and ranking.
Yeah and the 247 rankings are pretty dynamic, guys move around.

I wonder whether Boswell will be above or below Dug McDaniel. I'd rather have Boswell.

But don't forget White has two years left. He might need a year to develop into a starter here. (or maybe not. We will see.)
