If chester brought in better talent we wouldnt recruit over his guys. Its egg before chicken… or something like that.
I think it’s more a product of the portal now. Chester brought in good players but the P5 teams have changed to be more about getting older through the portal. Less playing time to develop 3 and 4 star players. Amani was the number 1 player in Maryland. He will be good.

This would be the Harmon replacement ... 6th man type role ... Think of Feliz role when he was here ... That's what CJ can do ...

We viewed Maddox more as a Domask replacement ... Role wise ...
I'm just not seeing it from the metric or analytic side. While he played a lot of minutes, he doesn't rebound or create steals, doesn't shoot the ball particularly well from 2 or at the line, has really low efficiency metrics both offensively and defensively, and he turns the ball over a ton. Adjusted defense is at around replacement level and wasn't particularly better than the rest of his team. He did hit 39% from 3 on smallish volume, and is assist rate is quite good, but outside of that, it's difficult to see him being anything more than a deep depth option on a B10 team. Maybe he plays better than his numbers, but even so, I'd have a hard time seeing him projecting as a 6th man on our team next year or being appreciably better than say Goode or Sencire. From an analytics side, CJ jones seems like an add that's even more questionable than Harmon was last year, and the analytics weren't a fan of Justin. Does the staff really see him as a 6th man? Over our other expected bench players?

Two weeks ago Storr was an EDG guy and your comment was heresy.
Ehhh situations and thoughts can change. If you can’t handle the offseason and how it is than your not going to have any fun. Would recommend checking back in a couple weeks or when there is a commitment.

Good news coming soon
That Brad Underwood remains in Champaign is the most important "good" news of all, I would say.

I am not a "Believe in Brad" guy whatsoever 'cause I don't think that way ever about any coach.

But: continuity at the head coaching spot when the guy can coach, inspire and recruit is probably the thing that has pushed other programs over the top in the long run.

We have needed stability at the head coaching level since Lou Hensen's ride ended. Now we have someone who I feel can with good fortune and the son of a gun's tenacity elevate the Fighting Illini Men's basketball program to the level I feel it should have reached some decades ago. It's about time to get 'er done.

I predict we'll sing up with a roster consisting of around 13 players.
Half of us will say these are the guys we "really wanted" and how they're better than the top end names we all thought we were going to get a couple weeks ago because they're a better fit. Those as other guys weren't EDG or their parents/ handlers were too much to deal with. Either way I trust this staff's evaluations, and even if they aren't as good, fletch will turn them into superhuman and we'll be top 2 in the conference without a doubt.
The other half will say that this is a bottom 5 B1G roster, cobbled together out of sheer desperation. Maybe we don't have the money everyone said we had? Maybe coaching changes at other schools screwed us over? Maybe it's the curse of the Chief? No matter the cause, bottom line Brad and Co got played and we're paying him to be a top 8 coach in the country so he needs to act like it.
Or maybe that's just the top 10 and bottom 10 percent and the other 80 don't know anything about who is good and who isn't until we actually play a game.

His 3 pt shot is effortless. Looks pretty legit!
Agree very much. Good shooters typically don’t have a lot of separate moving pieces when they shoot, entire body moves as a unit.

Only concern with him is he’s very right hand dependent when driving the ball (at least in the highlights). But has a really good first step. Would like to see that same burst dribbling left.

I'm handling it fine. Thanks. Situations of course change. My thoughts on Storr haven't though.

I mean to be completely fair. It was pretty up in the air in January due to the Shannon legal situation and suspension.
Two completely different situations…coaches not creating a cohesive roster and a player getting into legal trouble are not correlated
