Any consideration we were ever going to get Raynaud was absurd for a variety of reasons, it has always been clear Storr will bail for a single extra cent (which is not yet appearing), and it has also been clear other relatively large fish were making Maddox far more central to their team and financial plans than we were. And have we ever even heard about Garrison?
If we secure Boswell this weekend that's a big freakin' deal.
This really isn't that difficult to parse when you understand we and all of our competitors are working from a budget. We aren't going to get all of the desirable players because nobody is, nobody can afford that much.

If Brad read this Chester and Amani situation wrong, he better make damn sure Fears is ok with Boswell.
And a good backup plan to Storr, Oweh, is apparently not in play anymore.

I agree with your various assessments, and have had concerns along these lines for a little while now. But the sheer enthusiasm of our posters on this site for the Maddox, Boswell, Storr, and Booth class (plus maybe more) is hard to ignore. I too find myself Orange-Intoxicated at times here.
Which can be kinda fun, lol.

I don't mind the posters going wild, I just hope our staff woke up to that pretty quickly.
They slotted Maddox into a value range that was unrealistic. He was always going to attract #1 option NIL focus at major programs.
And we may yet land Storr, but only if we're the top bidder at the bitter end, so our time is better spent looking for an alternative option we can live with and just give Storr the same ultimatum Kansas did.

why are we talking like amani is gone? what info dropped that leads us to believe this?
I am very happy with our current portal class assuming we get Boswell. The portal will stay open till May 1. Plus grad transfers don't have to go thru portal.

Life was a lot less stressful
It's been like that ever since I've followed recruiting ( a looong time). Fans, including myself, start ruminating over future lineups with guys we don't end up getting.
Never pencil in anyone as a lock in recruiting. This was true before as well as after the Portal. And always take with a grain of salt what insiders hint at. Their sources generally feed them very optimistic info.
The value of a player decreases as the minutes available decrease from school’s NIL budget perspective. Think we are going to see more and more parity as schools and players maximize NIL. Schools for the most part are going to have trouble paying guys on the bench what another school is willing them pay them to play.

The good news is that in NIL World, that dream foursome we're always salivating over is likely to have exactly one come to us, with the other three at three different schools, as opposed to the old days where Ohio State or Kentucky would get 3-4 of them and we get nothing.
They're all going to take the most dollars they can, that is going to spread talent out, not combine it together.

This was never, ever going to go as smoothly as many hoped. Right now, we're in an area where our season is portal dependent. This is the danger of wanting to be "old" as a roster. We were saved last year by TJ and CH opting out of the draft. We don't have that type of situation as a fall back.
