Is it just me or will not getting a big 5 be something we regret next march?

Curious what are our backup plans if we don't get Storr. Is Saint Thomas still in play for us?

No inside knowledge but plenty of bigger guards/wings in the portal. A few names I’ve seen:
Otega Oweh- doesn’t look to be the scorer Storr is but 37% from 3 on low volume and looks to be a much better defender. Plus he took an OV here in high school so we have a connection.

Dre Davis - similar scoring numbers in the Big East on a very good Seton Hall team. Shot almost 50% from the field More of a stat stuffer too. Almost 6 rpg along with 1.3 blocks and almost 1 steal. Indy native.

Nelly Davis- we saw what he could do in MSG. Great scorer and looks like a dog. Gary native

Chris Youngblood/ Selton Miguel - pair of wings from south Florida. Both look to fill out box scores better and are better from 3. To my eye Miguel looks to be faster and better able to score at the rim of the pair. Youngblood is a better shooter and looks to have a significantly quicker release than Storr.

Storr is still my top option because of our prior connection and based on his size and that little extra burst of athleticism, I do think he has the highest ceiling and there’s a chance we get him for 2 years. But if opts to go elsewhere or even just tries to string us along, there is going to be someone who wants that role and associated bag.

The situation with Storr has been the same for months. He is going to the top bidder.

Totally agree, especially if we get Maddox.

We're still a guy short without Storr, but that guy is just best player available.

(Which notably and happily makes it a different situation than RayJ, whatever happens)
Totally agree. Just thought I'd add that this reasoning is why I've really warmed up on the Tre White signing over the past few days after being initially lukewarm about it. I can't imagine there are that many guys in the portal that have the same combination of:

1) good size, athleticism, positional flexibility, and ability to be at least a decent scorer
2) starter experience at the power-5 level for 2 years, including experience in the tourney as a freshman
3) willing to accept what I imagine to be modest NIL and the real possibility (if we happen get all of our targets, which I'm sure he's aware of) of being a bench rotation guy instead of a starter in order to get out of a bad situation/program.
4) NBA upside on the high end if it turns out he can put it all together??
edit: 5) forgot to mention he also has 2 years of eligibility left, which might be nice

Really just seems like a lot of upside for what I imagine the price was. Might even improve our negotiating position with Storr, and as Gritty said, would allow us to simply target the best available player if we don't land Storr (although I also agree that landing Maddox, and maybe Boswell, REALLY frees us up in this regard).

IMHO, Daddy Brad is probably already lining up alternate options for that wing spot. With Chin and OA joining Cal at Arkansas (and knowing how much NIL $$$ they have), you gotta believe Storr is priority #1 for them. And I would think the feeling is mutual for him.

Throw Roddy Gayle on that list too. If we are already poaching in conference with Storr, why not?

Bruce Douglas, Nick Anderson, Marcus Liberty, Deon Thomas, Jarrod Gee, Sergio McLain, Frank Williams, Brian Cook, Dee Brown, Brandon Paul, Jereme Richmond, Mark Smith, Adam Miller, Morez Johnson.
Wasn't Efrem Winters too? I know he was MVP of McDAA Game

I wonder if the Tre White commitment was a form of Storr insurance. He seems to be flexible enough to fill in at either the 3 or 4, and maybe that allows you to simply go after the best available talent that's left at whatever position it ends up being if you don't close on Storr.
That’s how I interpreted it- they like him and saw the potential and he was ready to commit so you take him

A lot of folks criticized the staff for waiting around for RayJ last year and being left with no options. clearly they aren’t doing that this year - they are trying to finalize the roster earlier - if you want your spot you better jump on it (I’m talking to you Storr!)

I know Boswell is on campus this weekend. Are Booth and Maddox visiting? Anyone else visiting? I can't remember.
