100% ... You talk to any of our players ... We give them a range of what they could make ... We tell them what's guaranteed ... VERY transparent ...

Shoot - we paid Skyy Clark even after he left ... I don't even think I personally would have done that ...

But just goes to show what kind of people you are dealing with here at Illinois vs somewhere else ... Where you might get paid or you might not ...
I get that the collectives are doling out the cash, but isn't anyone asking for a written contract, with all the promises that are given? I'd be asking for it if I were in the athlete's shoes.

For those that care about HS recruiting ...

I've been told do not be shocked if Cal brings in Jayden Q, Liam Mcneeley, Somto Cyril, Billy Richmond ...

Expect Travis Perry to stick at UK ...

Boogie Fland I have heard Uconn, Bama, and St. John's ...
Does this impact their pursuit of AJ Storr at all? Saw Chin and OA following Cal to Arkansas so assume that’s the top competition?

I'm curious. How do you know that's what he wants? Where's the evidence?

I thought mcneeley was ku bound? Have no idea who others are, although a cursory Google search lists Cyril as an "Internet personality".

I've said watch out for Sean all along ... Sean is ELITE when he gets kids on campus ... Maddox is his #1 target ...

He has more to sell to Maddox than we do ... And the NIL is going to be about the same at Xavier vs Illinois ...
We can’t outbid Xavier on NIL?

It's also worth remembering that Xavier has no football to spend NIL dollars on. While Illinois probably isn't a top dog as far as football NIL goes, the point is that we still DO have NIL money devoted toward football. If Illinois just simply didn't have a football program, I doubt many schools in the country, including Xavier, could outbid us. While some are obviously way better than others, I would wager that most basketball-only Big East schools punch slightly above their weight as far as NIL funds go precisely for this reason.

With NIL same at Illinois vs Xavier, would kids really pick Xavier? Don't they want to win?
I'll buy Xavier being good next year, they were really young last year and Miller knows what he's doing.

BTW, I was making fun of fanbases that are weird little parochial cults in the other thread, Xavier is a great example. It's like if you boiled down the entire Notre Dame fanbase to like 30 disheveled old guys all running in the Republican primary for the same House seat in the Cincinnati suburbs.

I spent some time in Cincy years back (great town) and 100% of the Xavier alums I met still wore their class ring all the time.

Xavier big east, private catholic school total 6000 student UG and Grad. Stadium seats 10,000. Looks like they sell out. 16-18 last year.
Very different than Illinois. I think money is comparable so comes down to which coach, which program. If he is worried about playing time than Xavier may be safer choice. Illinois was stronger program last year.
Dante is from Chicago which bodes well for Illinois. I wonder if we recruited him out of HS? We do better when we have (see Terrance, Quincy, Tre, Kylan) But he has been in Toledo 3 years. Does he hate Ohio or love it?

I don't like that much either as he "breeched" his part of the "contract". That said, I think it was a smart idea. Better to waste the money there than deal with the possibility of being dragged through the mud for refusing to pay and future negative recruiting. As sad as it is, often it's better to just pay disingenuous people to go away than stick to your guns and combat them even when you know you're 100% in the right. Just financially not worth the battle or publicity. Sucks, but it seems to be paying dividends.
