I'm not going to ruin your illusion at at thinking there is someone special on this board that somehow connects you to the basketball team. If you want to believe that, go ahead. I shouldn't have said anything.
Are you one of those types that gets off on “getting it” while other more ignorant people don’t? You just made it sound like some conspiracy theory that someone who knows someone on a college basketball staff might (A) hear things and (B) post on a message board. That’s not absurd at all.

As someone who is very much in favor of bringing in Maddox, can anyone more informed please give me a sales pitch as to why he's better than DGL/Harris?

Thanks for the insight, man. I'm not hopeful on Storr at all, but I think there will be a lot of options available.
I have a bad feeling about Storr. Talented player but I have concerns he is an instant problem for team chemistry. Maybe he's the coolest guy there is and his teammates love him. I have no idea.

But I do know, he took 220 more shots than the #2 guy on Wisconsin. He actually took 25% of the entire teams shots himself. Which partly explains why he didn't quite average 1 assist per game. His shooting percentages weren't great, 3pt% significantly worse than his Fr year, which combine to look like a chucker.

He's going to be making an insane amount of money for a college kid. At what point does the pay start to cause a problem in the locker room?

Ty, Sincere, & DGL still have a chance to be the next Frazier / Hawkins.

My guess is you’re probably looking at ~1 lifer per frosh recruiting class. The rest will likely be transfers.
So every day guys, but not every year.

I like all 3 of those guys, just have that extra spice to their game, Amani as well. Hope they stick around.

I love this board!!!! Crazy, entertaining stuff posted these past 2 days.... Yeah, some of it is cringeworthy! But I like seeing many of us sticking up for our own! Looking at their posting histories many making the inflammatory posts aren't regulars and OBVIOUSLY don't read the board frequently. Otherwise they wouldn't post what they have. We all know the saying, "You don't know, what you don't know!"

Transfer portal season has everyone acting up. Feel like I’m spoiled, just recently discovered this board. I feel like 99% of students do not know about this and mainly just stick to twitter (let them stay there) (n).

Man… bring back the war chant. And I say this as a person who thought retiring the Chief was the right move. But calling music racist or dishonorable is absurd.

If playing a song that has its stylings in Native American culture is “cultural appropriation,” then so is playing jazz unless you are African American, yodeling unless you’re Austrian or Swiss, or listening to the theme from Titanic unless you’re Irish. And don’t even think of playing country music unless you were born south of the Mason-Dixon line.

The point is… all music has its roots in specific cultures and to say playing a particular song is racist solely on the basis that it borrows or resembles music associated with a certain culture is not only absurd, it’s stupid. If that’s the case, ALL music is off limits to all people except those whose culture created it.

Not an insider but I would guess length and athleticism.

Don't want to take anything away from Amani because I think he can be good but he is probably 6'7 and didn't appear to be able to attack off the bounce and isnt vertically explosive. He would probably struggle to provide much rim protection.

Booth is taller and a lot longer plus he can jump. I'd argue just a lot higher ceiling on booth.
LOL. "Higher ceiling" got it.

There is not a SINGLE living human being that is not a Cultural Appropriator....... lol. It's WHAT WE DO!!!! Technically, anybody who eats Mexican food, who is not Mexican is a Cultural Appropriator!!!! Appropriating the things we like such as food, music, language, hairstyles, tatoos, footwear, clothing, religions, medicine, etc. ad infinitum..... is what humans do!!!! It's basically an homage to the people/culture that created it!
I've always HATED that somewhere along the way that the term has become a negative.... It should be CELEBRATED! It's how we take the greatest things from all cultures and incorporate them into our own way of life.

Aside from my brief diatribe..... I know I've read somewhere that the 'War Chant' wasn't originally even a Native American thing?!?!?!? I know we've all been trained to think that. Please correct me If I'm wrong.

I really wish all the war chant stuff could go into the Chief/Mascot thread in the future over in the Sports Talk section. It just starts arguments. People were sniping about it all day between everything else people were bickering about.

I loved the war chant when I was a kid. It sounds cool. I still think it sounds cool. I don't have strong feelings about the issue, but I don't really long for it to come back after a) learning that it only goes back to the early 80's and b) it's just ripped off from a cartoon about a Native American boy that appeared on Captain Kangaroo.

I certainly wouldn’t call it a “rip off” of the song from the cartoon… it’s the actual song from the cartoon. It’s no more a rip off than the old “Orange and Blues Brothers” song is a rip off of The Blues Brothers.

There are plenty of valid reasons to discontinue a song, but to relegate it to history’s dustbin because it sounds like a song from another culture would require us to relegate about 99% of all of history’s music to the same dustbin.

When you're running the show, at PG, on a team that has Caleb Love on it....your time to shine is substantially limited. If you pass to Caleb, good chance that you're not seeing the ball again.

His opportunities are going to increase tenfold and I think he'll shine because of it.
100% Love was a black hole once he got the ball.
