You need to quit helping him find these guys, lol!

So we’re going to go 17-12 next year if we don’t add Storr? While Storr would have been a nice add, I’m not going to lose any sleep if BU and company move on from him. Nothing to do with “self soothing,” I just don’t believe adding Storr is the only way for Illini to have another successful season.
The point there is that we need to find a a whole lot of scoring. When your top 3 scorers and only 2 true bucket getters(Shannon and MD) are no longer on the roster, where do you go? We know that Storr, though not always the most efficient guy, is a guy who can create and score. With he and Boswell, you'd immediately feel good about the off-season. At that point, we're looking for a big and we'd love where we're at.

If we don't land him, I don't see a scenario where anybody would feel that we're in a reload scenario. I could be WAY off here, but he looks to be, far and away, the best scorer in the portal....thus the KY and Calipari involvement.

yesh, guys weren't getting paid in the good old days
I anticipated a comment like this. Of course players were paid.way back. Slush Fund, anyone? Butkus? But not to the tune of nearly a million bucks. It's all repulsive to me now as then.

Yours truly,

Simon Pure.

Nevertheless, GO ILLINI!

How do define success?

I've been a Storr skeptic since day one. But I define success as finishing top 25. I think we need a player that ends up first or second team all big ten to get there. Not sure that person is yet on the team.

While you're right about the good ole days, this is a whole different ball of wax. The money changing hands was really more focused on the elite prep players because the transfer situation was obviously different and a more rare occurrence.

Once the requirement to sit out a year was lifted with money openly available.....We have 2,500+ kids, each year, chasing dollars and we have programs that can easily find those dollars.

This will be Storr's third college team(?) in three years and he's going to get 7 figures. That's crazy.

Dip your nuggets in my staff source sauce.
Because all signs point to us only having so much money, a salary cap per se. So every dollar we give to Storr is one less dollar we can spend on other pieces.

Edit: It was so obvious that about 12 other posters said the exact same thing.
Right. Already addressed. I'm confident Brad has it under control.

good news that won't be us next year
Although it seems that both Domasks appeal and Hawkins coming back seem unlikely is there a time frame for definite answers on that front. Given some of these amounts being tossed around what could a NIL number be for Coleman to think about returning. That would be definate but NBA rookie money is iffy. I'm surprised Coleman wouldn't consider returning.

Roster is not nearly complete. I’ve not been 100% sold on Storr either, but no doubt he would have helped offensively. Just need to let it play out. I’m honestly more worried about additional transfers out than I am about not getting Storr. Yes, there is no one that might leave that can’t be replaced, but I think there is value in some continuity for culture reasons. Just look at two years ago.

There are plenty of very good players who can score still in portal. BU just needs to grab some that fit together as a team. I think he will. Just time to pivot, pivot, piiiiiiivooooot as Ross Geller would say.

If Chester was recruiting guys selling them on a minimal role freshman year then really contributing as sophomores just for his guys to get recruited over I understand the frustration. He’s spending hours with that family and recruit building a relationship and at the end of the day not following through with playing time cause it’s not his decision. It’s the life of the transfer portal but if this is what was happening I understand the frustration and maybe he’s the top recruiter now at WV
