Depends what your definition of a down year is. I think last year was down year and we were still in the tournament. That’s acceptable.

I actually am rooting for it to escalate as I hope that leads to revised model more like college baseball with minor leagues. College basketball would be for students/athletes who want to be there.
If players are afraid to compete for minutes like Booth and Amani would be then they can hit the bricks. Go to struggling programs like Skyy and Epps did that play that game.
One reason I am fired up about DGL is he is ready to stay and compete for minutes.

Yes correct. I still consider the 2023-24 this season in my head. But yeah, I was talking about 2022-23.
This new math confuses me. But then after a few burbons I quit counting.

I don’t think I’m the only one feeling this way. I want the Illini to be as good as possible and will always root hard for whoever is on the team. I hope we get a final four and many more big 10 titles. So it’s fun to see us getting good players in the portal. But… this portal stuff sucks. A lot. I don’t want to lose Amani Hansberry. I didn’t want to lose Dainja. I want to see our guys develop and grow like we saw with Hawkins.

Maddox not happening might be overstated, but word is that Xavier is in the lead at the moment.
edit: don't want to come across as doom and gloom. I've actually been enjoying the ride and look forward to how it all turns out, but that's still an accurate synopsis of the current situation, as best we understand it (which, let's not forget, isn't very well. As others have said, take all the rumors and predictions with handfuls of salt, and just enjoy the ride. Or if you don't enjoy it, tune out and come back in July or so)

Yep, that pretty much summed it up.
There were a few quips about Storr's mom and Sean Miller taking our lunch money, but overall.....your summary was a good one.
