I remember once upon a time. I tried to help Harold with his ice-job in Wheaton. He told me: "No thanks, I gotta do it myself or I jeopardize my amateur status and forego 15 cents an hour and won't get to matriculate at U of I Champagne!"

He was true to his word: He hauled ice.by himself. But didn't he haul fanny at University of Champaign?

I know we’re all starved for something after yesterday so… tiny #SocialMediaWatchSZN post: Kylan and Carey Booth have followed each other on Instagram. Kylan also followed a manager on our team named John Kramer today.
Also… Dante Maddox who is at Louisville this weekend followed one Louisville player and one assistant coach on Instagram, as well as Nick Boyd, who is in the portal from FAU. Wonder if Louisville has Boyd on campus as well.

The question that very few of us can even begin to answer is....what's the second best option. None of the guys are guaranteed superstars and there's never a guarantee that any coach can get their squad to build chemistry. We saw the difference between two years ago and thus past year. If we continue to live or die in the portal to stay 'old", this will be a yearly occurrence because ultimately, nobody is being developed. We didn't have one young guy develop by leaps and bounds last year to be able to say ...let's build around him. Ty is the closest thing, but he still hasn't proven to be able to shoot a lick.

Our fan base won't allow for a rebuild season. It's all about reloading and getting back to the Elite 8 and beyond. The transfers aren't coming in to be the 8th or 9th option.

We need to replace 90% of every statistical category. When it comes to scoring, it's probably what.....95%? That's a complete guess.

1)Who gives us the best odds and 2)how far is the drop between options? My guess is that we're going to find issues(as you noted above about Storr) with every player they bring in.

All three transfers(including Boswell in this) have received criticism.
No comparison from two years ago. Two transfers and three freshman with big minutes playing time. Spelled D.I.S.A.S.T.E.R.

If players are afraid to compete for minutes like Booth and Amani would be then they can hit the bricks. Go to struggling programs like Skyy and Epps did that play that game.
One reason I am fired up about DGL is he is ready to stay and compete for minutes.
This. If I were talking to current players worried about who is being brought in, the question that I would ask them is if they don't think they can compete with their teammates for playing time, then how do they think they can compete against their counterparts from the other BIG10 schools that we will be playing?

1.5M is a whole different set of circumstances. That's ridiculous. There's not one player, not named Zach Edey, that would have been worth that last year and even moreso for this year.

Storr is a heck of a player and could be a headliner on a really good team.....but that's a put your team on your back and carry them to a Final Four type of deal/arrangement. He's nowhere remotely close to that type of guy. There isn't a kid available with that type of talent.
Players will be worth what teams are willing to pay them and it'll keep escalating until things go bust. $1.5M may seem crazy now, but the way things are going, that might be the going rate for star players in a year or two. Honestly right now reminds me of the NHL pre salary cap, where salary balloons year after year, until the whole thing goes bankrupt when teams can no longer cover the salary being promised. This is almost an entirely free market economy right now and so any number a player is asking for is simply that, a number. Historically in sports, this has not been a sustainable system (people can argue soccer, but it has had some major issues as well), so eventually I see this trend becoming multiyear contract based. But until then, just gotta ride the waves of ever increasing insanity.

And really, if you're as reliant on the portal as we are, you need to be the big stack bully at the poker table. Sure you'll lose some massive pots, but if you can back up your bets, most of the time you're cleaning up and bankrupting the smaller fish.

Next transfer addition coming very soon.
As for questions on Storr, he’s not the make or break for us. We are in on over a dozen kids right now annd more that have feelers with. Obviously some are a priority but we won’t be left hung out to dry.
We have probably a good 90% of signing Storr. But it’s hard to get any solid information from his own insiders. Is it all about the money? Some feel it is. But it’s also about winning. Does he want to be option #1? Or can he agree to play team ball. As in facilitating. It makes a huge difference when trying to reach the top. Know when to give the ball up
