Transfer guards from Toledo = Brad’s kryptonite
We are DBU after all with amazing Florida athletes. Why not bring ‘em all over to Ubben and put them through the grind and see if there’s a baller in the group.

My HS gym, a place that holds so many memories for me, is one of the Iconic small town gyms and is now named for legendary coach Ernie Eveland. When I was in fourth grade, I would go to the gym on Sat. mornings when my parents allowed. On one glorious day, in a pickup game, I was chosen to play on Ernie's team...only to become disillusioned by learning that the coach...who had coached his teams to two state titles and a runner-up in a 5 year stretch.... was one of the biggest ball hogs and poorest team players I have ever witnessed.

So, when the gym was semi-retired after a new school was built, a final game was played in that old gym and I was invited to attend. All of the invitees were asked what their most vivid memory was of that beautiful old facility that seemed to age timelessly. Playing with a legend never entered my mind. I had been attending and playing games there over a period of close to 30 years, having first attended with my grandfather who was maybe the #1 fan of the basketball program. So the answer for me was easy and quite certain.........popcorn! The smell of fresh popcorn meant one thing that always got my adrenaline flowing. It was Gameday!!!

Would think that the more people back away from the table, the less bargaining power you'd have..someone's greed may actually lose them $$....
There’s still A LOT of time left in the transfer season. Players declared for the draft haven’t gotten their feedback yet — some may come back, some may leave. As teams strike out on their other plans, we may see some desperation offers from programs that have huge holes in their lineups.

I think for Storr, at this point you wait it out and see who wants you when the lights come on after last call.

Boswell, Davis, Booth, Tre... Good players... But Maddox is the only player I've been excited about. Storr is a great player but I don't really care for him personally. David Jones would give me a spark, but haven't heard much about our involvement. Fland, meh, I'd rather get someone proven. I'm sure we will be good but it doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be underwhelmed despite solid transfers.

Don't wanna cry about Maddox... So I will add to the car talk. First ride, Buick Electra 225 (AKA Deuce and a quarter). Power everything, leather, the whole shootin' match. (It did have over 100K on it when i got it.) MAYBE 8 mpg. Could do 80 mph for hours on end. Okay, about an hour and a half before you ran out of petrol, lol. Tanks were scared of the damn thing.

Brad to Toledo: "Why'd say F me for?"

(this is old 50cent meme)

Oh well…on to the next. Keep the relationship with him open in case something happens or he ends up in the portal next year. All you can do.

Damn. Love his game. Shame. With that said, Brea would be even better if Orlando works out!
I want Brea too, but he didn’t even start for Dayton and avg 11 points a game (although he got stater minutes) he takes 80% of his shots from 3 and makes half of them -which is great. But he doesn’t get to the line, doesn’t get steals, blocks nor assists- he’s just a shooter and this is his 5th year so it’s not a case of developing into something else

So he doesn’t replace what we were hoping for from Maddox or Storr- we still need a wing that will be our #1 scoring option even if we get Brea when everyone else is after him

DJ Davis would be a very similar player to Maddox and does a lot of the same things - I know he visited St John’s, but he would be a good get. Jalen Blackmon would be a #1 scoring option too- he avg 21 points at Stetson, good three point shooter and gets to the line, but everyone is after him too

Does the coaching stuff even want a TSJ type clone player? As much as I loved watching TJ go off and carry the shoulder on his back on multiple occasions, if he's cold or taken out, then so is vast majority of our offense. It was TJ and Marcus this year but it was Ayo and Kofi before as well.

Watching UConn decimate us (and others) with multiple options was impressive and I wouldn't mind having a much more balanced team than a clear obvious #1 option.

Of course I'm not a NCAA BB coach so I trust Brad and co know what they're doing

Likely every coach wants the same. Had we had Harmon and Q playing consistently to their potential from the arc, this year's team was in the realm of the Flyin' Illini and '05 finalist. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The lack of ability to score against Edey and Clingman was evident. Purdue especially was open to getting beaten from the arc...but alas, it was left to Nebraska, and NW to get that done. I did not see the Boilers lose to OSU, but I suspect the Buckeyes had a decent night from 3land.

That being said (bear with me haters), it is rare, if ever, that a team of even great shooters are all putting it in the net. We had 5 of our top 6 minute-eaters able to hit big numbers from the arc at times, and that never happened except maybe in the first NW game. Not being critical, just very hard to do every night.

The point is that getting a team in house that can put scorers on the floor every night is difficult to impossible at an elite level. Then, getting them to play defense and rebound at an elite level is another matter. UConn did both and their kids were both happy and proud to do it. Hurley, in spite of being somewhat dislikeable and cocky, deserves a nod of respect for doing something few coaches have done or ever will do.
