I don't read too much into it - He spent 3 years at SF-Austin, 1 year at OK State, and while he's been with us for a while, his 3rd year was interrupted with COVID and then the Portal Wild West kicked into gear. For what it's worth, it doesn't count guys like Kofi, Ayo, and Giorgi who only played for us & him in their 3 years in college.

I don't think that is the minority opinion.

While it is nice to get invested in a kid and watch them grow at The Beloved, I for one have no issue buying in quickly to one year mercenaries such as Domask, QG, etc. It helps that their short tenures are associated with winning, and as long as that maintains the standard then I am A-OK with it.
This is the main reason I follow recruiting way closer than I used to. You never know how much time you’ll get as a fan with any given player. A life lesson in there somewhere :p

Dang. Team is gutted. I know this is the new normal but i dont like it. Hope we get some hardware this year to make me feel better.
Changes and new normals are not always the best, or the most desirable. I don't think I'll get used to it, or even have the desire to get use to it. So yeah, winning will ease the irritation of it all.

Not untrue but he only coached at SFA for 3 years so Illinois is the only place where he could have guys commit to him and play for him for 4 years. I doubt anyone who starts their head coaching career will be much different unless there's a drastic change in rules. Obviously Trent and Damonte committed to Groce and some will argue that Damote was always coming here but regardless those two came here knowing he was the head coach and played 5 years for him.

He was last of their starters in minutes played, pts/gm, WS, ORtg, DRtg (essentially tied), TS, etc, and worse overall than TSJ/Domask.

We wasn't even necessarily first in assists, with three players essentially tied (in a different order depending on which metric).

I'm sure he'll be a fine player for us, but not one I'd count on to be a top one or two player to make us great. He might be, but in my opinion his metrics make him less proven than TSJ/Domask.

You asked who the proven player was. I answered, and my answer was a correct one.

If you're comparing him to guys that were voted 1st Team All-B1G then that's a separate conversation. I do think he's that kind of player, though, yes.

THAT….. makes 1000% sense.

Houston has zero issues with or zero desire to put any roadblocks up for admission for anyone.

I’m not trying to create dissension but can you tell me how that’s different than being pushed out?

Being pushed out is we need a spot open, you need to leave (i.e. Creaning). Leaving on own accord is seeing playing time greatly reduced due to influx of new talent coming in. I think that is what the Insiders are alluding to.
