Last season we had 11 scholarship players on the roster, plus a 12th that redshirted in order to preserve eligibility for his future school. And a scholarship that was kept open for no reason.

Looks like it may be a similar story this year unless we roll in 8 new transfers on next year's team, could really burn us if there are injuries.

I don't think we are losing any coaches-but there have been rumors but last I was told there was a nice pay raise.

Nico will likely enter the portal

As for Coleman, who knows. Have heard both sides but he's probably leaked both himself
I'll guess it's TA to get his salary close to OA's, but I also know nothing. If we lose another assistant, I really hope Brad has another stud lined up to replace him.

The portal era has too many moving parts to make sense of what the ultimate product will look like. Brad got us to the Elite 8 so he's got my trust until the results on the court show otherwise.

I need to vent a little though. Did anyone else's wife get them a Sweet 16 shirt instead of an Elite 8?!

Humrichous could be a nice piece, but I’d like to register my objection to the inevitable comparisons with Domask immediately.

Humrichous was less productive as a junior at an NAIA school than Domask was as a true freshman at SIU.

He’s a considerably better 3-point shooter than Domask and bigger, he would be a nice stand in the corner and attack undisciplined closeouts type weapon, but you don’t run offense through him.

And then at the defensive end of the floor you’re basically just hiding him, forget about switches.
Maybe somebody already corrected you but, Humrichous is a D1 player from Evansville in the Missouri Valley. Played Drake , Indiana state and Bradely each twice a year. Hardly NAIA material, but neither is SIU. 14/5 with 41% 3 pt. percentage. Getting some NBA workouts. Not Domask, but not bad.

Besides, we can’t lose a member of the “A-Team” with a B coach.

Humrichous played at Evansville for 1 year after playing at Huntington University in NAIA for 3. Will be a 5th year senior using a COVID year.

He’s a grad transfer at Evansville from NAIA Huntington University. He’s got 1 year left to play.

As a junior at Huntington, his third year there, he averaged 12.8 points and 5.2 rebounds a game.

To transfer to D1 and be the leading scorer at Evansville is pretty impressive, but that’s a 6-14 Valley team (KenPom #208) and he got bottled up by Drake, Indiana State and BYU this year.

His path to being a high major contributor is real but limited. I’d rather have Goode, frankly.

The point is, Domask was a complete and battle-tested four year starter producing in all aspects for a good mid-major team. Totally different projection.

I am beginning to suspect we need “cooking” lessons.

are we going to start talking about each other's wives?

This was Ben’s first season with the Purple Aces, so he’s not wrong (he was at Huntington University in the NAIA before) but it’s a bit of a straw man. Why would I be worried about Humrichous’s production as a freshman at an NAIA school compared to Domask’s production in the Missouri Valley as a freshman? In fact you could frame it as, look at the incredible strides he made while playing at a school with more resources, imagine what he’d do with all the resources at Illinois.

But his point remains accurate, anybody expecting Domask level 1st team all big ten performance is likely to be severely dissatisfied.
