Me reading these outrageous takes and waiting for some news from our legit sources.

I’ll bite- I’ll take Humrichous given our current roster. Claude is a better all around player but we don’t need a PG and a wing that shoots 23% from three and takes 3.3 of them a game is not good for the team (why did he keep shooting them?)

Xavier recruited over Claude for a reason
Ben Humrichous
These rankings make me feel like I'm completely crazy but I agree with you guys.

I'm really, really skeptical of Claude.

Eh I appreciate people willing to go out on a limb and offer a daring take. I suppose there is a line somewhere, but I don't see how anyone on any side of the stuff from today has approached it.

All the portal rankings vary wildly. I actually saw one today that had Robbie Avila at #1... Ahead of Ballo and the 2-time POY in Avila's conference (MVC), Tucker DeVries. Just mind-numbing... I did not check to see if it was authored by Robbie's mom...
I think the amount of movement, the number of players, and the limited time players are in the portal make it very difficult to get an accurate assessment. Some sites just should abstain from trying...

People need to realize we're all working off of incomplete information here. Some are confident we will end up with David Jones, but we were also confident we would get AJ Storr and RayJ Dennis, and it didn't happen.

So when it comes to Humrichous I look at it like this. He is not my top choice. Given the choice of only one, Desmond Claude or Humrichous, I'm taking Claude. But it isn't a choose one, we still need to fill out multiple scholarships. So if Humrichous is taking the Goode role, giddyup. If he's taking the Domask or Hawkins role, I'm concerned. If he's taking the Shannon role, we're screwed.

I do not think he's taking the Shannon role. If we have all this NIL money surely the plan is to use it on a big score. But I'd personally be much more comfortable bringing in 2 more guys to lead the team, with Boswell and Humrichous being a 4th option at best.

So depending on where he falls in the context of the greater team, which we do not know yet, will determine, at least to me, how good of a pickup he would be.

If Ray were here, he would say: “you got the right one, baby…uh huh!”

Not to start another tangent, but I have a funny Ray Charles story.

Back in my young reporter days working in the Quad Cities, I was tasked with getting an interview with him before he was to perform in concert. We had nothing set up, so I waited for him as he came out of his hotel.

Eventually he came down, flanked by two gorgeous ladies, one on each arm. I asked him if I could grab a quick interview with him and he said “make it quick, I’m late for my gig.”

Hard hitting journalist that I was, I asked “what do you think of the Quad Cities?”

“I like it all right,” he answered dryly. “What I’ve seen of it, anyway.”

I was halfway back to the station before it sunk into my dim bulb what he had just said. 😂

The Illini obviously need SHOOTERS from the transfer portal. Shooters that can also handle the ball would be even better. I haven't noticed anyone mention 6'5" 185 lbs. Arkansas guard Khalif Battle as a possible transfer to Illinois. He averaged 14.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 1.3 apg last season for the Razorbacks. He shot 40.6% from the field, including 35.3% 0n 3s, and 87.3% from the line. More importantly, he exploded in the last 8 games of the Arkansas season, scoring at least 18 points each game, with a couple of 30+ point games. Two other players that I think the Illini should be pursuing are Jalen Blackmon and Javon Small. Blackmon is a 6'3" 180 lbs. guard from Stetson. He averaged 21.3/2.9/1.9 for Stetson this past season, shooting 42.8% from the field (38.1% on 3s) and 90.7% from the line. I could see Blackmon start and thrive for Illinois at the 2 guard spot alongside point guard Kylan Boswell. I also really like 6'3" 195 lbs. PG/CG Javon Small of Oklahoma State. Last season, Small averaged 15.1/4.7/4.1 for OSU, shooting 44.1% from the field (37.4% on 3s) and 86.6% from the line. Small could start at SG next season, while also serving as the backup PG. I think that Boswell and Small could play together very well, in a style reminiscent of the Deron Williams/Dee Brown pairing of two PGs in the same starting lineup. Does anyone know if Illinois is recruiting these guards that are in the transfer portal? We need shooters/scorers asap!

I'm also not trying to be an !!! or play a game of "gotcha". I'll lay off. This whole thing is about entertainment, after all.
I went to bed around 10:30 last evening. Can someone please fill me in on the "casual dating" opportunities?

Also, I've got a line on Derek Holcomb, since people were apparently wondering where he is.

Woodson's grill at IU is quite a bit hotter than Underwood's 😕
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder…. Indiana looked great on paper last year also. That’s why you play the games. I trust Woodson will not be able to put the pieces together. Jmo

See, this is exactly why I never offer an opinion concerning basketball in these threads. ;)
The collective Loyalty mind is like a steel trap - it's old, it's rusty, and illegal in 48 states. On top of that, what ever is caught in it is mangled beyond recognition and resembles nothing like what was originally caught in it

Someone dig up the receipts of him/her offering any opinion. RIGHT NOW!

Also, what if the comments about "Brad cooking" were literally just about him cooking dinner that night? One of our insiders is his son, after all.

You guys are so delusional on Humrichous 😭 he could be a good backup and maybe a low level starter in the Big10 but nothing more. Whoever compared him to Dalton Knecht should be banned lmaooo

As many of you have stated, 6'6" 210 lbs. SF/Wing David Jones of Memphis (now in the portal) would be a HUGE pickup for the Illini. He averaged 21.8/7.6/1.8 this past season, shooting 45.9/38.0/79.7. He may be the best (and only?) high volume scorer presently in the portal. But can Illinois compete with (or beat?) the NIL offers that Jones will undoubtedly be receiving? Does anyone have info on how much it would "cost" to add David Jones from the transfer portal? Do either Antigua or Anderson have any connections with Jones?
