Aleksa Dimitrijevic is a 7 foot Serbian that will turn 18 on May 30, and has been on the Serbian U18 team. Bogoljub Markovic is 6'11", Pavel Misic is 6'10". Not an insider at all, just Google guessing based on BU being in Serbia.
Sounds like Brad may be able to pick up a 7' Serbian at a local pizza Hut in Serbia! Bogoljub would add a lot of name value of this team!

Why are some people compelled to reduce their anxiety into writing for public consumption?
Some just want to complain about everything, that’s obvious.

For some, writing down their worries is cathartic (‘getting it off their chest’).

People may be airing their concerns on here as a way of actually looking for others to soothe the concern (“it’s not that bad” etc).

And others may just need to rant to people that care about the same thing (Illini sports) as much as they do. I know I for one have sometimes done that in our Game Threads. Not because I just want to complain, but because I don’t know anyone else who cares as much about the game as those on this board. My wife sitting next to me during the game certainly doesn’t 😅.

Maybe we are going stretch 5 again with Booth, Johnson, Jaksys, and Rogers. Its only when you play Edey or Cingon that it really hurts and both will be NBA lottery picks.

I really hope Rogers is going to gym 430 am every morning with TSJ to shoot jump shots. I am sure Ty wants to play in NBA and the only way he has a chance is to develop a good jump shot.

I realize there's smoke around Jones from Memphis and the kid from Evansville is more than likely a done deal...

With Boynton officially at Michigan and it is looking like they definitely won't need another center or even another big after adding Goldin and the kid from Yale.

Why are we not more in the mix for Garrison and Small? Especially Garrison because he is a true sophomore 6'11" center. I remember both their names being mentioned as contacted/some mutual interest (thanks again to the user that makes the portal tracker) but I think both guys could really help the program both next year and Garrison for a few years to go alongside the other guys with multiple years of eligibility. I went to Oklahoma State, after growing up in Illinois my whole life, I watched both guys every game last year, they weren't the issue. They are both talented and seem like EDG. Insiders, is there any strong interest in either? More-so Garrison?

Am I missing something? Or is there just something bigger on the horizon?

Looks like Bama for Ugonna
That seems less than optimal... We getting outbid or outrecruited is the question? We should still have a very big bag, perhaps even the biggest on the market based on how little we've likely spent compared to the other big spenders. That said we still have multiple holes remaining so we do likely have more stricter limits based on how much we can spend on any single given player. It'll be interesting where this goes, but at this point, whatever recruiting battles we get into, we're probably going to have to win them and there's going to be a lot more narrow a margin now and probably a higher market price.

So Michigan gets Vlad Goldin AND Danny Wolf, Indiana gets Ballo, Ohio State gets Bradshaw, Purdue has a 7'2" star freshman center coming in and now Ugonna is headed to Alabama instead of Champaign. Are we sure we don't have any interest in Omoruyi?

Not being able to stop bigs hurt us last season and it looks like it will be an even BIGGER challenge in the B10 conference this year. Please insiders, tell me there is a plan!
And Washington got KC Ibekwe. 😁

We'll see if this slow playing strategy works out. I trust the staff knows what they are doing.

is getting “outrecruited” still a thing?

They're related for sure, but if you are to get 2 similar NIL offers, recruiting likely still holds sway. The question is how much and how much is that sway worth to a given player. $1.15M likely wouldn't be too much different than $1.1M per se. If you're losing despite being the highest bidder, it's recruiting.

BIG_G2332: Thanks for asking about those two Oklahoma State players, both in the transfer portal. I've been banging that drum for a while. Asking questions. Getting no answers. I think that Brandon Garrison and Javon Small would be perfect additions to the Illinois roster. I'm assuming that neither player would come cheaply.
