I think it's pretty awesome that we have a head coach that has had the amount of success and makes the amount of money that coach Underwood has that is Hungary enough to be willing to go all the way to eastern Europe to check out a potential recruit. I think that mentality alone should tell us that the future is bright. Furthermore if he's willing to do all that you have to think it's someone that has NBA talent. It's not gonna be some scrub that doesn't make a difference.

I get the “be patient” Brad is “cooking” and all that but this strategy contains serious risk.

I mean, this clearly highlights (to me, anyway) that Brad and Company realized they needed to change the way they recruit. They loaded up on a mix of high-end, mid-, and diamond-in-the-rough high-school recruits over the years. The high-end recruits have been studs (Ayo and Kofi), the mid-level has been a mixed bag (Trent being a stud for sure), and the projects have been asked to do too much (until recently) or just not been good enough to see meaningful minutes.

At this point, it's clear (again, to me) the staff is fine with losing an entire roster if it means they get to reset recruiting and bring in players specifically for roles that they're willing to play (for now, at least). Going forward, Brad will shoot for high-school stars but likely avoid mid-level players in favor of projects that won't bolt after one season. He'll largely recruit from the portal with a mix of multi-year guys and one-year studs. Time will tell if this approach will work.

Bryce Hopkins, Larry Bird, and IDKWTI all agree.

But part of me is holding out hope that Luther will come through with a bag and pay the difference to get AJ in.

Two hats on the table and do a reverse Cliffmas.

I've never understood the Brian Cook jersey reference. A million internet points and a big thanks to anyone willing to explain. TIA

To leave any silly arguments about Creaning aside, our staff did not feel confident going into next season with Dainja, Hansberry, Harris, and Goode as core primary players. Not confident enough to prioritize them in a financial and roster planning sense.

I understand why they felt that way in each case, but it also reflected a very high degree of confidence in terms of what was possible in the portal.

We could have kept all of those guys. It would mean we're pretty much done with the team we've got here, but we COULD have gone that route.

If that winds up looking like it would have been the better decision, we need to learn from that. I trust we will.

(Leaving the Chester stuff and the Goode/Indiana stuff out of it, we also just could have aggressively locked up Dainja as a star centerpiece of the team. I know and understand the disagreement on that point, but that's what I would have done as I said at the time.)
Dain got a BAG

At least he didn’t oversleep or blow off the delivery. He’s learned
Considering the talent Snacks has always been able to bring no matter where he's at......the making fun of him for being some kind of loafer doesn't make any sense to me lol

The fact that he was able to get touted HS guys like Richmond, BP3, DJ, Bertrand, Meyers to want to play for Weber makes him a top tier recruiter by default in my book lmao
