Could locking down a big like PJ Hall entice Coleman into returning?
Also, the weird non commitment of Humrichous mean possibly backing off because of Coleman?
Absolutely!!! His catch & shoot ability combined with his ability to switch on D I think makes him a better NBA prospect than college player. I think he has a legit shot to be a good NBA player.

I think the world of Coleman as a defender and my bet remains on him staying in the draft, getting picked, and establishing himself in the league, HOWEVER
The way we played revealed his weaknesses because he's not quite as versatile as we might hope. He can guard 1-4 in a special way for a guy of his length and showed that off repeatedly this year, but against true down low brawlers he just doesn't have the bulk and ability to anchor.
The success of Illinois Basketball might have been benefitted by us bringing doubles to help him, but that wouldn't have done anything to bolster his defensive reputation with NBA scouts.

Sorry, but that's crazy. Coleman is the perfect add to any top 10 team to put them over the hump.
He'll know more about our team by the time he pulls out of the draft (if he does). But if we look like an 8 seed after our wheel stops spinning, he'd be crazy to not sign up with a top 10 team for a lot of money.
Coleman is NOT coming back to be a 5. Or going anywhere else to be a 5.
You don’t think Coleman at the 4 and rolling the dice with Rez ans Booth at the 5 is an option? Probably not one Coleman would buy as legit? I know they’re all “4s” but…

Morez does not work with Coleman IMO ... If we want to play like we did last year ...
Morez would be in more of the Dainja role ...

There are like 4-5 big time scorers that just entered the portal.
Hunter Sallis, Bryce Hopkins, and some smoke on Dillon Jones(Weber State kid and an absolute monster on both ends). Plus guys like Sion James and Okpara.

If the staff knew this was an option, why would we give money to guys like Booth and White to play the 4 and not save that and throw a huge/bigger bag at one of the top tier bigs in the portal? Maybe we tried this and I missed it? I just thought it was shot down a couple weeks ago that Coleman was planned on coming back to college and if he even did, it wouldn't be anywhere but here? Obviously, nothing is off the table anymore, just tossing thoughts around.

Agree ... We need to lock down a 5 that Coleman can/wants to play with ... And go get an elite level wing ...
Then our sell becomes a lot easier to him ...
Carolina is working hard to get Cliff at the 5 and Coleman at the 4. That's gotta be enticing to C-Hawk.

If Coleman Hawkins is playing for a different college program next year and we're picking over the crumbs of the portal, we should absolutely flip the F out.
Are there any 5's in the portal left or will be entering soon that are actually gettable who would be good enough?
I agree 100% that asking Coleman to play the 5 position defensively this past season was not a good way to showcase his defensive abilities. In my opinion, that was a roster-building flaw.
