we'd all jump at the chance to add back Hansberry and Butler at this point, right?
I'm not so sure. We have 4 open scholarships right now, I believe. For the sake of argument, let's assume we use 2 of them for the European targets (I know it's not a done deal yet, especially for the second one, but here's hoping...) That leaves just 2, and presumably 1 of those will be used for a wing type player from the portal. So for the final spot, would you rather have Hansberry or Butler or just keep it open? Or would you rather have Hansberry or Butler over someone else that we've already gotten? I don't think I would, personally. (Nothing against them, but I do like who we've gotten so far)

Happy Trails to you and yours Pru. You old enough to remember this LP? I had it also on 8-Track in a '67 Camaro in 1969.

Right now we have the 11th ranked transfer class. Great! The problem is we have kept almost no one from last years team. If we went into the season with the current roster +Dainja, Goode, Hansberry, Harris and Butler I would be feeling pretty good about where we stand. Hopefully the guys we get to fill out the roster look better than that group that we lost.
We're not done with the class. I think we already have or easily will get better at those roles.

-Dainja averaged 8 mpg b/c he couldn't be trusted on D. A bench scorer is replaceable.
-Goode had to be hidden b/c teams attacked him on D and was wildly inconsistent in rebounding. Humrichous.
-Hansberry played limited minutes due to a back problem. Morez & Booth are better prospects.
-Harris couldn't shoot and isn't playable with Ty. Tre.
-Butler is a >top 100 freshman PG. Boswell.

We shall see if they're back of the bench guys, particularly our two on what is shaping up as a pretty darned good looking WVU team.

Some differences of opinion about the others, but we'd all jump at the chance to add back Hansberry and Butler at this point, right?
What did Hansberry show last year that has him starting ahead of 2 top 50 PF prospects? He's certainly not going to play C at 6-6.

Butler presumably left because the staff wouldn't guarantee minutes. I don't understand where a 97th-108th rated freshman already worried about his ability to get minutes is somehow an integral piece or giving us peace of mind.

Harris is 6-3.

I haven’t seen where Jamir Watkins might be placed as far as draft status, but he’s in the portal, it appears.

(Not sure if he’d be a top target, but at the least it’s another higher profile wing in the pool to dilute it a bit more)

Yes, plus probably Dainja

Why does it feel EVERYONE is getting whoever they want and we are not. I know we've picked up a lot, but we can't splash a big or big name

Maybe a lot more uncertainly coming to Champaign, than other teams, due to combined portal loses and graduation/early graduation loses.

No no, see you need to be your post number minus one since Dan takes post number 1. The first commenter is technically post number 2 but is called 1 since they are the first responder. Therefore, you are #32
Not even close. He was 35th. Gotta move quickly. I recommend staking your claim by typing “stand by” THEN searching for your GIF and editing as needed. Even then, you’ve gotta be quick on the typing.

People on here need to just learn to be patient. We are blessed that the insiders give us a glimpse into who the staff is considering, but the downside is as soon as a name that has been mentioned commits elsewhere suddenly it is a disaster and we are going to be terrible. So many factors go into if we get a player or not, and even the blue bloods miss on plenty of targets. The time to judge the roster is AFTER it is full, not before we even know who will be on it.

And we're operating at a net loss. We're deep in the red and desperately need a scoring wing and a big man to get back into the black.

No offense to you personally, but the comments and replies keep repeating the obvious in a steady stream of Loyalty anxiety. Brad has revived this program from the ash heap and has earned my trust. At this point, I only wish more of the negative posters shared that faith in his recruiting abilities.
