No it doesn't work. Tre has to be a starting wing. Ty early off the bench. And I get so tired of hearing the questions about somebody's defense. Why even bring that up? Of course they can guard people. BU is our head coach don't forget.
I mean, he did bring in Plummer as a starter not too long ago and we all saw how that went on defense (went great on the other end of course). It's a question -- in some cases warranted -- not an accusation made on the floor of the Senate.

I like Dain and Amani a lot. I think both are going to have really solid seasons. Now that we know our front court, though, it's pretty obvious why we were fine with them walking. We got significantly longer, better shooting, more versatile, and just plain better fits for what we want to do offensively. Add in that Toma is likely cheaper than Dain and it's kind of a masterclass in positional roster building. Doubt Brad at your own risk. He'll make you look foolish.

Demin is by far the preferred wing. Kadary Richmond is more of a combo-guard and not a very good shooter.
Richmond is passable at 3 for his career at nearly .34% but is elite defender, passer, high iq player too. Not saying prefer him over Denim but he is by some, the #1 transfer recruit this year.

But also look where Plummer started and ended the year on defense. He couldn't guard someone driving a Walmart shopping cart when he got here and ended the year at least respectable enough.

What is the appeal for international players with NCAA or more specifically U of I? Is it college scholarship? Is it that NIL pays more than they make professionally overseas? Is it increased NBA draft stock due to greater exposure?

Editing:

I'm sure it's constant TV exposure, the ability to be seen every night with the opportunity to play on the biggest stage.

With regards to us specifically'...I'm sure money(probably the biggest reason), playing time, competition level and the exposure that the Big Ten TV contracts bring helps significantly.

In regards the the big guy, I'd have to imagine that the relationship with OA helped.

There's another kid in the portal that Illinois might want to consider for a depth piece, and he's probably an affordable one too. 6'4" 190 lbs freshman guard Derin Saran from UC Irvine. Saran (from Turkey) averaged 10.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg, and 1.6 apg last season, while shooting 50.2% from the field, including 34.9% on 3-pointers, and 80.0% from the line. All that while averaging only 19.1 minutes per game off the bench.

We traded 4 one dimensional old style players
-Sencire defense only
-Dain post moves but no outside shot cannot defend outside paint
-Amani undersized 5
-Goode great shooter, limited athleticism

Got 6 multidimensional players that allow us to play 5 out. Unless you have all american old style 5, this is the new way to play, NBA style
- Davis shooter
- White - defense and mid range game
- Booth - Stretch 4 mobility , very athletic, likes to shoot 3
- Boswell - PG who can shoot 3
- Hamrichous - big stretch 4' great shooter
- Ivisic - stretch 5, great size, can shoot and post up

The portal is brutal but we are better team with transfers than if we had stayed pat with Sencire, Dain, Amani, and Luke maybe just adding 1-2 transfers

We know by now, and since day one, BU is all gas and no brakes.
I think there’s more to him than that. He’s shown that he’s fairly pragmatic and actually good at adjusting…given ample time.

He certainly does like to play balls to the wall. But I would say the year we played 4 out around Kofi in the post…was def. not that…for example… That was a lot of half court-throw it around there horn… and walking it up…more or less picked ‘em up at midcourt and played a version of packline D.

* We’ve had some great pseudonyms/monikers in the Underwood era: Ayo Silver, King Kofi, Doc Domask, and Dainja Zone to name a few.

Here’s a new one I might call the copyright office on…but 🤷‍♂️ dunno.

Dain worked hard to improve. Hustled on fast breaks. Tried to drive from free throw lane. Much higher energy. Never complained or pouted.

Unfortunately - not great shot blocker, not great passer, poor ball handler, terrible free throw shooter, no outside shot, too slow to play anything but drop coverage. For his size OK rebounder but not a monster cleaning the glass. Low post scoring was good but not elite like Kofi.

Should have been born 50 years ago and played for Lou Henson.

I say the rest of our team should be required to learn Serbian.

I’ve seen a few references to Serbia.

FYI, Tomislav is Croatian. They speak Croatian. Beautiful country on the Adriatic. Game of Thrones was filmed there.

Serbia is landlocked and they speak Serbian.

Serbia and Croatia have been separate countries since Yugoslavia broke up in 1991.

…and they have a long history of fighting each other.
