We went from AJ Storr
To David Jones
to Egor
to Watkins
to Lathon and Kasparas/Monsanto
to now just Kasparas

If it would've been Kasparas and Lathon/Monsanto...

or just in general going 2/3 out of those 3 guys...then I think you got something to show.

Sorry...but no matter how you slice it...if Kasparas is gonna be our only add from now on out...that's a disappointment.

As someone who has followed Illini basketball for the last 50 years, I like our current direction. The off season with NIL has added a new dimensions, so I'm still adjusting to the new normal in recruiting. I expect most players don't want to sit and learn, so they chase PT. Don't need to fill all the scholarships with 9 or 10 man rotations. By summer, we'll know what we have and can move forward.

We're going to need to grow the war chest even more for next year in order to retain most of the talent we've landed in the portal this year.

There's no disincentive from a player's POV to check their market value in the portal every year, and they're also about to watch a future teammate land a more favorable NIL deal because the new guy waited longer to commit than they did.
I agree with every word of.this. And I hate it.

~$1M may seem crazy for an 18 yo Euro, but when you factor in a decent chunk of that sum is needed to buy out the kid's contract, it's more understandable.
Do we even know that the 1 mil is including the buyout? Perhaps it is his take and the Buyout is separate???

Boswell looked great in the Fears/Joliet clip, but to be fair, he should be dominant in that setting. The goal should be top dawg PG in the BIG and I think he can do it.
I'd agree that he has that kind of potential. It will depend upon his commitment to conditioning and improvement. Based upon what I saw last year from the Arizona games I watched, it looked to me like he could get a whole lot leaner.

Your expectations followed that path. The realistic probabilities didn't necessarily follow that.

Not how it’s gone. Most fan talk is not reality.

I never trust anyone. From first principles, trust no one. Maybe trust one's mother. I guess, yeah, trust her. Unless she messes up about the Orange & Blue.

Doesn't mean I think anyone is wrong. Only -- trust no one.

... Most fan talk is not reality.
No kidding. Fans are, unsurprisingly, fanatics. Crazily enthusiastic, largely uninformed, hopelessly defensive and dying to crucify those that are not true believers. Fans can't recognize a basketball in all it's orange-laced glory even when it is shoved up, or down, their visceral alimentary canal. :)

Still, fans have brought us wins. Fans have hunkered down in the snow and rain and on the cold concrete steps of rival's stadia. Fans be fans. For better or for worse, for richer or poorer.

Exactly right. But I guess in a situation like this, homie ain't gonna contribute much before he flies to the League.

I could well be wrong -- see that? Humility? -- but I think a situation like this should be a no-go. Young fella is too young too help now and too good to help later. More power to him: fly to the League on someone else's dollar.
