Good story - I remember when Weber came in and said he hadn't even contacted Villanueva because we had no shot even though he was verbally committed (he was thinking like the SIU coach)- I knew right then he would never be a big time recruiter - which ended up being his downfall
When Kasparas needs a break, Boswell can handle the point and we don't lose a thing.

Agreed. I’m expecting Kasparas to start showing up in mock drafts soon. Get the deal done before more schools also throw bags at him.
If you think about this a little bit Weber was 100% correct.
More guys on the floor with PG skills is a really good thing. I recall B. Self saying something about that.
I want some of that in O&B….we need to close this deal fast.
God, never heard this story, Weber was in fact a negative recruiter.... he made star players who would've otherwise heavily considered Illinois not even remotely interested in us.
Illinois is a hard program to do terrible at (5/6 of our previous HC's have all won conference championships) but that buffoon managed to torpedo our perception for almost an entire generation.
Disagree slightly here: Weber got decent enough guys, but they weren't guys that fit his system and couldn't adjust his system to fit the guys he got.
He outed himself as a small school system coach that got a gift from Bill Self that bought him a lot of grace when the wheels inevitably started to wobble and subsequently fell off on the way to Jarling's.

Our front court is pretty loaded. We literally have six guys who could start for a lot of good programs (Ivisic, Morez, Humrichous, Booth, White, and Ty).
Backcourt at this point looks extremely thin, but hopefully that's fixed soon.

Probably all people on this board would probably pick Egor...
But getting a feeling our staff really likes Kasparas.

Tre White is a lot better than some people realize. White can score on 3 levels and has a very well-rounded game. He can handle ball as well and good in open court.

I kind of asked a similar question yesterday but it didn't get any traction. I'll paste what I wrote. (My sense is I'd rather have Kasparas if I'm a college coach for next year, but maybe you'd want Demin as an NBA project)

These type players win at the college level
My take is that Egor has a higher ceiling/more skills that are elite for his position and likely higher NBA prospect
But Kasparas will have more impact earlier in college because what he does translates quicker - he doesn't rely on being more athletic or quicker than kids his age, but he's physically ready for the big ten, has great awareness, court vision, his pick and roll game is there, is a good shooter and is a leader
Do we have that “alpha dog” already on our roster that the posters were lamenting about only two weeks ago?
He better shoot a whole heck of a lot better than 28.6% from 3 if he is going to be the alpha on a team.
Tre White can possibly replace Domask, though less efficiently. But he is not the Shannon replacement. There is no one on the team now, or available, that is going to replace Shannon. We're going to have to take a different approach next year.
I think White is the real deal. Obviously a gifted athlete, how tall is he?
