Seems? This is one writer. Hardly conclusive. If this guy is as good as some claim the list of suitors will be longer and size of NIL wallets will be thicker.
It was also brought up on Jermey Werner podcast yesterday, Derek Piper said Wake Forest has a connection on their staff and Florida was also pushing so that info is out there. Also not saying more cant come offering.

Hugo Gonzalez is a pipe dream for us, IMHO. He's a higher rated player than Demin on many draft boards. If we were to pull that one off, he would be our most hyped incoming recruit of all time.
Agree with @More3s...I haven't seen him linked with Illinois or other college programs. I would think it would take a brinks truck to get him out of his home country of Spain IMHO, very beautiful country and people. Just wanted to mention him as he stood out as a good player, just like Traore was. Once again, Traore seems like one of those very smooth, high scoring NBA PGs that are borderline All-Stars.

I like good player comparisons, I know some don't on this board (athletic Larry Bird etc..). Kasparas seems very fluid as a PG not mechanical, I made the Koleck comparison but I think he is smoother but that was my best try at similiaries from college ball this year.

There's some real concern that Kasparas Jakucionis is playing his way into a huge contract with Barco or pricing himself out in terms of an NIL package in the U.S.

Illinois put together a strong package for him. We'll see.
And it begins.
This is why I don’t get overly bought in to any player we are going after until he shows up.
Recruiting is a long winding and hilly road.
Still hoping he ends up with the beloved.

Ah, the Illinois Loyalty insiders cycle:

1. List of top level players Illinois has no actual chance of signing.
2. Hype up a player nowhere near the talent level of players in the original list.
3. Illinois is in a good spot to sign the hyped up player.
4. The player will be signing with Illinois any day.
(Player signs elsewhere for more money than IL offered.)
5. The player is garbage. Illinois is better without him.
6. There are plenty of good players left in the portal.
(Repeat cycle)

Derek Piper said the same thing on Illini Inquier podcast. Probably where this guy copied his info. Sounds like it’s between BYU and Illinois for Demin and wake Forest Florida and Illinois for Kasparas. I watched both play in their respective games and I still think Demin is the better of the two even though KJ stats are more impressive. Real Madrid is a very balanced team with real talent at every position so Egor doesn’t have to assert his will as much and can defer to his team-mates. Announcer raved about how calm and controlled Demin is on the court and called him a silent assassin. He finished with 14 pts 8rbs 2 asst 2 blocks in very limited action against an overmatched team.

About a week ago Indy brought up the point of:
Plan A: Watkins
Plan B: Lathon/Monsanto and Kasparas

Right now it looks like we're out on Watkins and it's:
Plan A: Kasparas
Plan B: Lathon and Monsanto

Kasparas is a fine consolation prize for Watkins. Just not very fond at the fact that we're gonna pay him just what we would've payed a guy like Watkins or Storr
...and will therefore not be able to add another quality piece - a la Monsanto.

Like his game don't get me wrong...but don't think it's reasonable to think he'll have the same impact next year as Storr will have at KU for example. He could for sure be that level maybe in 2 or 3 years down the line though...

Gotta do it to get the best players I guess...

Do we know what really caused his price tag to go up a notch like that? I mean...don't think it was 1 mil to start with...

Yup, Demin is more smooth, effortless like a silent assassin. Kasparas is very active and noticeable. Prefer either one to Watkins or Storr.

I give KJ the benefit of the doubt on this one because his team had to win by 10 against a good Paris team with the best pg in the tournament by far in Traore. Unusual set of circumstances that are usually not present. Had to take a lot of shots early in the possession to try and give his team a chance to win by 10. Not easy to do when the oppposing coach knows this and adjusts his defense accordingly

I agree Demin is the better NBA prospect- but given he’s likely gone after one year- I’d much rather have KJ. Demin hasn’t had to be the man on his team so he is much more passive and lets the game to come to him

KJ is used to having to score and set up teammates running the offense and is a very high usage player - and he’s big ten ready right now- we need that. Plus he’ll likely be in college a couple of years at least

Little sample of Big T‘s scrimmage against USC.
wow, love running the offense set through your 7 footer. feels polar opposite from what things looked like with Kofi

I feel that BU Underwood's ability to shift offensive philosophies according to his roster is one aspect of his coaching skill set that is dramatically underappreciated, especially on this thread.

I wholeheartedly trust in his ability to put whatever players we end up with and in a position to succeed on the court
