Morez reminds me soo much of a young Big Ben Wallace...Fletch is gonna turn that man into a monster

Take it one step further...you're bringing in a 6'4-6'6 guard in the transfer...

Which do you try to keep harder? For me, its DGL but someone is gonna say Kylan

Love this... So is the likelihood of White going for a 4th school very likely now?
I am sure he is talking to Skyy about where to take off to next. Maybe they can meet up at UCLA or wherever he is headed to next. I think Tre is a good player and like his slashing style of play but no sure there is a starters role for him next year.. If it weren't for trying to balance the starting 5 with bench he should be behind Riley, but you got to have some scoring players on the bench to start the game

What am I missing here? The same team strugling to stay in the top 25 minus our best player? Sure they will be a year old but that's no guarentee. Boswell has regressed from last year - at least statistically.
You're underestimating the effect of a second year under the same system and coaches, and with the same teammates. Tons of talent on this team, another year to gel could be huge.

I hope he's back. Assuming Riley will return would be foolish. Tre is a solid player and he would probably improve the most by actually staying with the same coaching staff for two straight seasons.

This is probably a majority view, but I think any player that wants to come back should be welcomed to return. This includes Tre, Ben, and even Booth. I suspect their NIL payments would all decline considerably, but the scholarship should remain available. I suspect that might even be an NCAA requirement in the White and Booth cases.

I agree with Combo. Not sure what Tre has done to deserve the snide comments that several Loyalty posters have directed towards him today. He has undoubtedly been an important part of the rotation so far this season and is a talented player with significant upside. I certainly am expecting him to play an important role in March and I expect even bigger things from him next year when he hopefully will return. Why are some of my ILLINI brethren so unnecessarily disparaging one of our own in mid-season???

no clue on his hoops development, but his physical development has been good. yeah, he's still pretty skinny, but the HS version was a stick man (boy)
He could develop to be a nice player. His recruiting rankings were in the low 100s. I could see Jake Davis level minutes.

This is the biggest question of them all to me.

DGL has done everything you have asked, and had EARNED a starting gig in the backcourt. Athletic as hell and has dedicated himself on the defensive end...

If he was 6'4 we don't even bring it up...but do you want 2 guards under 6'2 in the backcourt?

And do you see another level in DGL...even past what you're seeing now? Is he a 14-16 ppg guard?

Toughest thing they'll have to sort out...because DGL will have opportunities to get minutes in alot of places.
DGL plays like 6’ 4” because of his athleticism. Don’t think his height is an issue. He plays defense, finishes at the rim and his quickness gives him an advantage on both ends.

Definitely a very important decision for DGL when it comes to deciding whether to stay or not. The way I see it, I think Brad still has Boswell over DGL when it comes to starting lineup and as others had stated both guys aren't well suited as of now of being the primary ball handler for the duration of a game. Losing DGL will sting because this season the kid has come out and has represent the every guy mantra to the max.

I see what you see in Tre. I think, though, that Ty Rogers is a much more consistent and reliable rebounder/defender in the I-can't-hit-a-three role. (Or actually, in Ty's case: a guaranteed won't take one, ever, role). Ty Roger's bring-it character, every-day-guy style, would have improved this team this season even if his I-don't-shoot-jumpers offensive game is a serious weakness. I think going with Tre over Ty has turned out to be a mistake, though I would have made exactly the same one 6 months ago.

How about Ty at the 4? A man can dream . . .

Unless something changes …

So you are saying Ty is sadly transfering.. I was holding out a slim bit of hope that he might stay.. What about Jakstys, I know he was a project but was hoping he might be able to maybe see a few minutes next year..

If Jakstys ever plays significant minutes … We’re in trouble …

Nothing against the kid but the standard is much higher in terms of talent … This is Illinois … Not EIU …

I certainly agree. I was comparing him to the
absolute specimen that was Ben Wallace in '05 with boulders for shoulders.

#98
In that lineup, wouldn’t Will Riley be the primary PG? Then WR guards the 3 and DGL and Kylan would guard the opposing 1 and 2. I get the height concerns but DGL and Bam can pressure the rim and guard.

I really like Will as PG. I’ve rewatched the 2nd half of the OSU game 3 times.

No guarantee Will is even back next year …

Personally - I wouldn’t pay the asking price … Would rather use that $$$ to get someone more consistent …

#99
Is there already an asking price for next year? Or a prorated guesstimate based on his current deal?

#100
He already has … First half double double …

Better improve defensively after last game … Brad chewed him out over that … Wasn’t happy …
2 comments Brad made at his presser that makes me think he has eyes on Duke:

1. Harping on Morez’ defense. If he can’t stay in front of Royal he can’t stay in front of Flagg and that’s a problem for us.
2. Our big lineup with Tomi and Morez will let us attack five way switching, which Duke does.

We’ve got about 3 weeks to get ready.
