- how was I to know, she was with the Russians too?
Having lived down that way in Marion for several years, that area has a small loyalty towards U of I. If anything, Kentucky kinda has a small fan base there as well. Obviously, we got Bardo from there, but will be very interesting if Kentucky gets involved heavily.
Plus, not everyone is here for just the basketball. He may really want the UI degree, assuming his future is not in the upper echelons of professional basketball.I had asked you this before as well and I get it. Hard to judge a kid just watching a shoot around before the game. Seems to have a decent shot and obviously has the height to play. We have the scholarships to waste, I hope he stays works on his body and proves us all wrong. I wanna see the kid become a Warren Carter Chris Gandy and blossom in year 3-4. He is the kind of culture kid we need and I will root for him to get there.
Also, considering that he was the "face of the team" at the B1G press conference, I really do believe it was his decision. It's a weird-looking situation with Ty Rogers. Since April, I was puzzled as to how the rebuilt roster would work, and by the end of the summer, Ty seems to have decided it didn't work for him.
All I know is that players and coaches do not share what sort of conversations led to decisions like the one made by Ty. It is impossible to know what was said, what the thinking was. Describing it as "Ty's decision" could be 100% accurate and simultaneously entirely misleading. So I am troubled by the redshirt decision, but have not a clue how it arose. I consequently don't blame either Ty or Underwood.
One of my assumption of Ty's leadership/culture are rooted in that Underwood (or the staff) still go to him to host official visitors while he redshirts this season (stated on premium boards). I wouldn't think they would ask Ty to take on that role to promote the university and team if he doesn't continue to display those intangibles. At the end of the day, as you've mentioned, if Ty and the staff's expectation for minutes don't align he will be playing for another team next season (and I think that's the most likely outcome). You are right, he made a personal decision, and I’ve said on here that I don’t blame him for making a personal decision. He has to do what he thinks is best for him. I also don’t believe he is sitting out “to work and get better” to come back to Illinois and have a better role next year. He didn’t like the role laid out for him and rather than compete to expand that role he’s taking the year off. That’s not the kind of player I’d be throwing a lucrative deal at.
You say “you don’t have to question how hard he will play.” I would have agreed with that wholeheartedly after last season. But now? I can’t say with any confidence that should he return next year because he has been promised 30 minutes a game and then as noncon season rolls on his minutes are reduced that he’ll work harder to re-expand his role. Now I’m not saying that he’d walk away mid-season next year if that happened. But I’m no where certain he’d show leadership and be a good “culture guy” if that happened. His recent history when faced with a role he doesn’t think is enough doesn’t exactly support that assumption. Again, I don’t think we’ll ever find out because I’d be shocked if he comes back next year.
He only had 23 against Eureka.Talked to his dad after Scottie's 40+ game against Eureka. As of today, Mizzou is the leader.
He can take over the game though, he had some KJ looking shots around the free throwlineTalked to his dad after Scottie's 40+ game against Eureka. As of today, Mizzou is the leader.
That’s a stick up.
I’m assuming Illinois has no shot at this guy? Given the other options I can’t see it making sense for him

Why did Storr transfer? Plenty of reasons for a kid to transfer. Why would he transfer from Wisconsin?
$$$ ?Why would he transfer from Wisconsin?
Life interfered, and I wasn't able to watch the Iowa game. Did Iowa go over or under screens when Boswell had the ball? Did his defender drop to cover the lane, or keep someone in his face at the 3pt line?Hmm? Against Iowa Boswell as lead guard and KJ at the wing was explosive in the first half.
I'm a big BeLeever. Think he can make an impact next year (~10 MPG) depending upon how the roster shakes out, but would be shocked if either play significant minutesAre Wagler or Lee going to play minutes next year?
