His game looks very similar to Andres Feliz
Al Brooks Jr from Rich Township is a winner. Classic tough Chicago kid. Would be an every day guy if that was still a thing.
I remember browsing the web when I was growing up and people calling my parents house and getting knocked off the Moe Odum.
6'7 wing with real good length is the exact type of developmental player you want to take to fill out those spots. He would definitely need to be bought into the idea though like Jakstys though and come in expecting to redshirt and develop.with roster expansion to 15, Brooks is a prep I'd seriously consider (no clue if he'd be up for it though)

I think you could basically fill out roster spots 11-15 with guys like this with no real loss(even 10 guys aren't going to get serious minutes). Just bring in a in-state developmental kid that's bought in every year and redshirt so you would basically just grab one in every class for 5 years and always have 3 upper classman at a time that are bought into the culture(could just use it for spots 12-15 if you wanted to save a scholarship).
Worst case they transfer out, best case one or two develops into a role player.
Yeah I guess best case is you actually get a guy that is a legitimate starter. Mid majors have been full of under recruited Chicago area kids that become difference makers.role player is not the best case, but definitely the most probable. good post (IOW, I concur).
a year practicing with the team and Fletch-ing, you might have something there. for the 11-15 guys, it's effectively a 1 year audition. that's great value to staff
Just play devils advocate, how would this work from an NIL perspective. Funds aren’t unlimited. Let’s say you split 100K or 200K between players 12-5. That’s 2.5-5% of a 4M budget, which might make the difference between landing the impact players at 1-7 and getting outbid.6'7 wing with real good length is the exact type of developmental player you want to take to fill out those spots. I don't really think these type of kids are getting any type of significant NIL money and you need to fill spots for practice purposes either way.Just play devils advocate, how would this work from an NIL perspective. And then there’s the chemistry aspect of it. Even if the player was bought in to a developmental role, if they are essentially getting a grad stipend (if that) while their teammates are getting 7 figures, could potentially cause some issues.
I do think it’s worth a try if the kids truly are bought in. But I’m just saying it’s not without its potential downsides either.
I still think they should just put it at the end of the tourney. Let kids play in the NCAA and NIT without worrying about it(and coaches).Transfer portal question. Found this on NCAA website:
Moving forward, the notification-of-transfer windows in basketball will be open for 30 days, starting the day after the conclusion of the second round of each NCAA Division I championship, when 91% of teams in both men's and women's basketball have concluded their season. For the 2024-25 academic year, the window will be open March 24-April 22 for men's basketball and March 25-April 23 for women's basketball..
Does this mean players can't transfer until that date or can't announce intentions until that date. I am guessing the first, but knowing the idiotic bureaucracy of the NCAA, who knows.
Either way, only 2 weeks max until the rumors run wild.
Brooks and Aleks Alston are the top unsigned in state players rn. We would have begging for both not too many years ago. Also think we'll be keeping a close eye on "feeder" schools ISU and Bradley for the next couple of years; both getting some good in state talent that we could be interested in when they get some experience.6'7 wing with real good length is the exact type of developmental player you want to take to fill out those spots. 8 games this year with 10 or more assists!
Feel so sorry for this coach.....not.Dan Hurley on 60 minutes…
“50% of my roster or more is at least considering going in the portal, if not already knows what school they’re going to,” Hurley said. “And in a couple of those cases they’ve already talked to the coaching staff at a future school and have an idea of what their NIL is gonna be there.

Some wondered why the Duke assistant coach is leaving for his new job before the season is over…because he needs to start recruiting immediately!
Just checked him out through game logs and he also put up 51 on SDSU....Treysen Eaglestaff has gone portaling per Tipton. He has got to be getting a BAG from someone. Had 40 on Bama.

Moe Odem connecting with his teammates?
Dialing up the assist totals.
