To second this, Illinois is still in a great spot for Dame Sarr. Think he ends up here still as of now.

And for gods sake fix the defense.
My sentiments exactly, Rock. This team was so vulnerable due to "high risk" but way to numerous turnovers and too many guys lacking foot speed or lacking in understanding of how to position for every defensive possibility. Strong, intense, competent defense is paramount to the Fighting Illini moniker IMHO. That has to be understood by every guy wearing the Illini uniform next year. Unfortunately, there are way too many posters who "like and welcome" recruits who play one end of the floor. We need guys like TSJ, Trent, and Kylan Boswell who take pride in being a defensive stopper.

Who was lead recruit on Ty? Was it TA? If TA can't get a college job after the stunt he pulled this year, would that be impactful on Ty's decision?

How does it end?

With KU absorbing 1M for Storr to play 15 mins off the bench all season, Maddox doing the same at Xavier, Demin having a subpar season for BYU and us landing Boswell & Tomi along with a lottery pick and another likely 1st round pick?

If so, where do I sign up?
Yup. Recruiting success must be judged on who you end up with, not who you miss.

As long as we keep Tomi, Morez, and Kylan minimum, we will be okay. Good players are going to want to take our money and play with these guys. We are just scratching the surface of what these guys can do together.

Morez is a true freshman who is already yolked like a junior. Wait and see what Fletch does for him this summer…

Tomi barely had any time here in the offseason. I expect him to get stronger too. No questions on when will he get into the country, or when/if he will be eligible…

Kylan just started looking comfortable… There won’t be any question on who the leader is next year. Senior year. Gotta put it all out there. I think he’s ready to take over that locker room.

If Tre stays, you have another senior who has played a whole lot of college basketball. It’s an “all-in” year for him too. He needs to hang onto that spark he had at the end of the year. There is better basketball in that dude.

We will be better just by hanging on to the best guys we have, and I have every confidence in the world that the rest of the roster is going to be pretty darn good, regardless of the day to day portal drama.

Retention of the current roster we have is so important…I can’t emphasize this enough…😎

Ugh I hate hearing that a guy is all but locked up for a while and then having to start sweating it out. I imagine we are going to have the roller coaster for Sarr go on for quite a few weeks at this point...

But I will acknowledge the insiders saying things still look fine there so as to not lose much sleep over him.

Just read where Indiana is gonna be 10 million plus on NIL for next year. This is getting nuts. No guardrails. Just another thing to add to the incompetence of the NCAA

Since this is mostly all speculation at this point anyway, let me ask this:

Just for fun, what if everyone came back next year. KJ, Riley, Tomi, Tre and Boswell starting. Morez and Ben first off the bench, DGL and Jake get 8-12 minutes per game. No illnesses or season changing injuries. What would your expectations be? Conference champs? Final Four? What’s their ceiling in 2025-26?
