Davis? I could be wrong, but have a hard time thinking he'll be gone. This year honestly worked out better than really anyone would've thought... and tbh, he really isn't a starter level guy on a really good team. Another year to develop, comfort in the system.... not quite sure there's a whole lot out there to sway him away.

Like our chances here, Ayo’s old school Morgan Park. Could play both football and basketball.

The vision next year seems to be Tomi and Morez in the high low game, surrounded by 3 shooters. If that is the plan, Ty is probably getting 15 mpg max. He simply doesn't fit with Morez at all.

That being said, he could be very valuable with his energy, effort on the glass, and defense in those limited minutes. Not trying to put anyone down, but how often did DGL come into a game this year and do pretty much nothing? Ty could come in and get you 9 pts and 7 reb in a hurry.

So I would think the pitch to Ty would be we can make you one of the highest paid glue guys in the country, you just have to be willing to take that limited role.

He certainly would (I believe excel) in that exact role. They would be valuable minutes for the team.

Yes, please.

Let's start with any team with Ty Rodgers is better than that same team without him ...
I also believe Tre will make a nice jump so need to put him in a place to contribute and succeed.
In the scenario above, I see Ty as a more gritty version of Tre - albeit without Tre's offense, playing alongside Tre.
I don't see this as a bad thing. Flying Illini were 7-9 interchangeable gazelles.

Morez-Tomi-Kylan-Tre-Ty.. sounds like a great place to start.

The roster situation right now is likely Tomi, Morez, Boswell, White, Davis, Jakstys, Lee, and Wagler. Without knowing more, I'll disagree that Ty's minute ceiling is 15 minutes/game. Even with the assumption that Ty's offensive game improved over this past offseason and coming offseason, there are limitations. That said, Ty has incredible value - anyone that can have a 52%+ eFG% and defensive +/- of 3+ (Boswell territory) is a really valuable piece. A lineup of Morez, Bos, and Rodgers would likely be a top-3 rebounding unit even with two fans taking up the other spots. Underwood has been really flexible with strategy to maximize his team's strengths, so I'm confident he could use Rodgers in spots with the right pieces around him or build a St. John's-esque defensive lineup of death with him, Morez, and Bos.

This team definitely has softness and and a real grit shortage. You saw grit in DGL but he is just too small I guess.Ty Rodgers ONLY needs a mid range, let's say 17 to 20 ft shot consistency and he becomes a triple double threat every night. He was pretty good defender, strong ,and just a plus on the team..I say welcome back Mr Rodgers to his neighborhood..lol. While we are at it ,let's extend Morez a little bit too.He is very and talented, but offensively disoriented.I hope that changes some.

We dont officially know more, but there's a 99.99% chance we will be adding multiply high quality pieces that would cut down Ty's playing time.

Thank you for the renewed diary!

By the way, phallic is spelled with 2 Ls. You never want to come up short in this area.

Correct, when we recruit these guys that have aspirations of going to the next level, they know what position they will play if they can go pro. Hawkins and also others like Morez and future recruits want to play those roles in college to show their strengths and not expose thier weaknesses. It is hard enough to get guys to come and stay but when they do the roster should be constructed so they can play that position and to thier strengths and be happy.

Well he certainly did want the $2 mil! But don't think he wanted to defend guys like Eddy or play the 5 anymore either. He wanted to prep and hopefully show more of what he can do as a stretch 4 on both ends. I think he made the right choice for both reasons.

The silver lining is we’re losing our three worst defensive players in KJ, Will and Ben. Replacing them with Sarr, Ty and Big Z is a huge upgrade in defensive personnel which should go a long way toward being better defensively

Sarr and a McKneely type would make up for the offense we lose, plus Kylan playing more like March Kylan and Morez taking a step forward offensively

Pop Isaacs in the portal. I know we took a long look at him when he transferred from Texas Tech last season, but is now coming off of injury.
