Culture is more than a marketing slogan over there (and in East Lansing). Can someone explain how Purdue manages to retain all of their rotation players year over year, while we struggle to keep ANY of our contributors?

I'm getting to the point where I'm checking out of college sports altogether. This is worse than free agency in the pros, not knowing year-to-year who's on what team. I enjoy seeing players grow and get better. This isn't enjoyable.Honestly were it not for the resurgence in us being good in both sports, I might well have just stopped watching college sports entirely.
This product is irredeemable garbage now.
And this is even worse. Stop it.
Can this be true and also a lot of us be getting tired of Brad's (don't ban us Dan) !!!!?Anyone shitting on Brad or anyone in the program over this is stupid. Morez is bailing on the team after being offered a ton of money and a key role. It a doesn’t work out leaving your comfort spot. These kids have some terrible ppl in their ears. He isn’t worth 2 million just to make it clear.
By offering him 2 million? Hes not worth it.
It helps to have a staff players trust and respectCan someone explain how Purdue manages to retain all of their rotation players year over year, while we struggle to keep ANY of our contributors?
Dude is staying, I guess we just have to accept it.I was hoping this would be done while I was traveling this week … Guess not …![]()
Like Lovie said “Sometimes divorce is a good thing “. I’m not talking about MJ either.
And Bos right? Right???Make no mistake, this sucks, but now you can go all in on building around Tomi next year and a bunch of money freed up.
Why even recruit high school players anymore? Let's just grab Juniors and Seniors from the portal and offer bags of money to players from other teams to transfer or portal to us.Illinois gave Morez everything he needed, promised him a huge role next year, upped his NIL (from a deal that was already agreed), and he still decided to leave. Onto the next, good luck Morez.
I 100% said Fire Brad in frustration to losing a hard working beloved player who was committed two years early. I fully understand the NIL world we live in. Sucks to lose him, but I'm still frustrated at the lack of continuity in our program which seems to be an annual thing, not just with our program. I'm sure we will find someone suitable to replace him and I wish Morez nothing but the best. Here we go!
This! I would add that the nepotism BS has to be addressed NOW!!This isn’t just about money … This whole thing started WAY before this week …
Morez has been committed since he was freaking 16 basically … He gets here and you freaking start Ben Hum Brick House over him ???? UNACCEPTABLE …
It’s not like we’re talking about Domask here … Ben brings absolutely nothing to the table … He’s not a Big Ten player … Yet Brad continued to trot him out there … DUMB …
This crap is on Brad …
They did lose Mason Gillis to be fair, but that's a program that has been constructed to a very specific identity and is very careful and thorough about who they bring into the program in the first place and everything about the way they operate is designed around a revolving pattern of growth. Can someone explain how Purdue manages to retain all of their rotation players year over year, while we struggle to keep ANY of our contributors?
No offense to Purdue's role players but they aren't all that talented....Can someone explain how Purdue manages to retain all of their rotation players year over year, while we struggle to keep ANY of our contributors?
As good a time to throw out that Brad needs a reality check on who "coordinates" the offense and defense. Tyler and Hamer will be the downfall of Brad if he does not wake the hell up.Couldn’t have said it better myself my friend …

This is 100% correct. Would immediately fix all of these problems. The fact of the matter is, this is a professional league now with no commissioner, no collective bargaining, and therefore no rules. The NCAA hardly bears any responsibility for any of it. They didn't get in front of the issue and make it a truly NIL-based operation and now schools are just paying people. They might blame the settlements. They might blame mass media or the coaches or the fans for demanding change. But it was on them to put a structure in place that could work, and they've failed.Going to ask a stupid question here and obviously there are in-season decisions that could have been made where there would perhaps be a different outcome...
But why aren't their widely adopted multi-year contract structures in place to mitigate these kinds of situations? Is it uncertainty of funding year over year? I suppose it's still a bit of the Wild West so you open yourself up to a lot of risk by "signing" a guy who ends up being a dud and having to keep a roster spot for him, but it at least would create some more stickiness right?
I know there are those on this board who are more knowledgeable about this, maybe the answer is because it's still essentially it's still early in this age and the NCAA is dragging there feet to do anything material at this point but I'm curious what the hang up is for some kind of real action to create stickiness.
Accurate.Rumors that some Illinois players have issues with Tyler. Nothing concrete. No examples given. But it's out there.
