That's not what I said, learn to read... You made it seem like we have to use quantifiable data to make determinations on whether a coach is valuable to the team. My point was that there are things that can't be measure with data that matter tremendously on whether or not a coach is a good fit for a program.

And I never said he was a tool, but if he is, do we really want him as our coach?

The term "everyday guy" is so cringe. This is not a place that has a culture anymore. We don't recruit high character. We just get whomever to pass through for a year based on intersection of minutes, expected team quality and NIL. Then they go and do the same thing the following year.

This program is just a bunch of self-focused bag chasers. They come, they go and they play for 4 different schools over their college career to suck out whatever NIL they can get. Along with to a coach who does the same whether it's floating out nonsense rumors about other jobs calling, presenting data in the most favorable way in terms of "x amount of wins over y years" to cover up one Sweet Sixteen in his entire coaching career, artificially propping up his failson's coaching career via straight up nepotism.

"Everyday guys" please. There haven't been "everyday guys" since Ayo, Trent and Damonte left (and who knows how it may have gone if they had the options players do today). More like "gotta get mine" guys. This place is the poster child for everything unlikable about present day college basketball.

1. Boswell
2. Conwell
3. Dix
4. Sarr
5. Tomi

6. Ty
7. Humer
8. Jake Davis

This fits what Underwood / Tyler want and believe from an offensive perspective. It makes sense with shooting and positional size. Which Underwood constantly says. I don’t hate it at all. Defense is a worry but we will see.
No to Ben. No To Davis. Ty is transferring. Conwell is going to Texas. Dix won't go to Illinois.

Some of us had eyes to see this happening. We all saw the Ben H. was unfairly getting playing time of Tre and Morez.

Every year Brad has his players he irrationally hates and he irrationally likes. Last year for some reason Dain Danja was on coaches s-list. Yet I believe his per 40s were only second to TSJ.

And due to his infinate stubborness he will double and triple down the louder the press and fans get. I see him fully retaining Ben H. because he believes there is a Marcus Domask in there. He doesn't care if it costs him a season, a player, another player, another season - damnit he's going to turn water in wine.

I’m curious why some of the insiders are only concerned now…seems like the attitude about player turnover has been very different even last year

We have them ranging all of the way from defending the staff to coming on here anytime there's bad news and piling on with more potential bad news + calling for the coaches head while typing in all caps

We will likely never know for sure what is going on behind the scenes, but I feel like any of us listening to what is said by a person who obviously has an axe to grind with the staff and wants them out ASAP... we think this person is close to the staff in any way? Gullible

This team is drastically flawed in the front court and would get bullied down low. I would think that another Big would be in order for that to work.

Actually a lot of the insiders were concerned about player turnover if you go back, but more benefit of doubt is given coming off Elite 8 year. This season was expected to be the "rebuild" year with more continuity next year, but it is looking like it might be another rebuild of roster again. Having 2 out of last 3 seasons underperforming, and there is a lot more impatience in general.

1) They have a a TON of money available-they can afford to add Dix and bring in a couple of other big time guys along with some depth,
2) Josh Dix would be an amazing fit next to Kylan and Tomi.
3) Fat from a done deal, Kansas and Illinois neck and neck right now.
I almost hope he goes back to Iowa just to watch this board melt down over how Iowa can retain players even through a coaching change while we can't keep ours.

Let's not forget a guy with 26 MPG in the NBA on a Playoff team, Brandin Podziemski. The insiders (likely echoing what they heard from coaching staff) insisted he couldn't defend anyone at a Big Ten level. Clearly Underwood just didn't evaluate the kid correctly.

Brad has always had a very "take it or leave it" type if attitude when it comes to his decisions or direction of the team. It seems that mindset is coming back to bite him in an era where players and coaches have more freedom of movement than ever.
University of Illinois basketball is bigger Than Brad Underwood he’s not greatest he’s just the latest. At this point I don’t care if Underwood stays or goes. I do think in the next 2-3 years short of Underwood going to a Final Four or winning a National Championship Brad will be let go or move on to another school. That’s just my opinion. The current culture of Illinois Basketball seems toxic. I have faith in Josh Whitman to do the right thing when comes to University of Illinois sports and protecting student athletes.
