That is horrible work done by Brad imo

Tomi, Will and KJ all leaving because they upped their stock in the draft and it's horrible work by Brad?

Think Tre and Morez are taking lower NIL deals at other schools because Brad's an a-hole? Morez backchannel offer was $800K more than his NIL deal he just inked with Icon.

Who is responsible for allocating the $6-8M we supposedly have? Does BU have free reign or do the donors have more say in what amount of NIL goes to which players? These are questions I honestly have.

Yeah, but there was continuity there because he brought players from his former school, right?
True but a lot of the sweet 16 were full of transfer players. BU has proven he can adapt his style to the qualities of his players on the roster. Some years he has leaned on the low post, some years on the three, some years on defense. Have faith and embrace the new normal.

Ask someone who might actually know, no second thought who gives a crap what happens at a silly practice session.

Anyone remember how good the Oakland A's were those years when they had an entire team of players who detested each other?

KJ and Riley were going to declare for draft whether at Illinois or at another school. If anything KJ stock went backwards after halfway through the year.

Tomislav will enter his name to get feedback he’s not going to get feedback to stay in the draft. Tons of kids enter for feedback that don’t have any business getting drafted. But believe what you want. 😂

I know... I get that players transferring in the NIL era isn't unique, but it feels particularly bad with us. MSU and Purdue hold onto guys. We seem to cycle through a completely new roster every year. I get some of our players can't come back or go onto the draft which, I definitely appreciate, but still.

Agree with all of this, but Josh take. While he has been our best athletic director. Doesn't big daddy Btad have a 15 million + buyout right now? If I am correct, it won't happen. A huge amount of power in that number.

Hey man, no need to laugh at me, was just offering my opinion

Go back and look at draft mocks from a year ago, those 3 all moved up (don't think WR or Tomi was even included in mocks a year ago)

Tre has appeared on mocks as well, middle 2nd round on most sites

Here is my post after I just typed a wall of a text, proof read it, and then deleted it and am here.
Let's all breathe here. Sucks we lose guys, especially when there are deals in place. Ultimately these are kids and will make decisions as kids and listen to people in their ear. Right or wrong, they are kids.
Illinois' money is green, we will have guys.

Yea, I'm curious about this too. Trying to get a deal done for Morez in February sounds smart until you find out you're half the market rate. It also seemed to come up with Coleman not getting the pay he thought he was going to be getting and a core reason he bounced after his fourth year for a big bag.

I mean, not as an 18 year old. Who knows if that's still true after 1-3 more years of development. He's got a lot of potential, and pretending he doesn't is sour grapes.

No sour grapes but rather no jump shot.

I would be pleased to be wrong.

Holy Projection, Batman.

I don’t know if I’m more surprised you’re: defending Indiana Basketball like it’s your kid brother, or that you’re actually upset about a cartoon gif? It’s a freaking joke, man. Lighten up.

Apparently we have a lot of Indiana defenders on this forum?
I don’t like Indiana. I’m just angry. It’s all good 😊

Those mocks mean absolutely nothing after you get past the obvious top 10-12. Look Coleman Hawkins was in them and so was many others Illinois players who didn’t get drafted or wasn’t going to be drafted big reason why Hawkins stayed in college.

Look at mock drafts and then compare them to the way the draft results are they are vastly different. So other than the obvious players the higher picks those mocks don’t mean much other than clicks for the site

Kanon Catchings is in the portal. I hope Illinois makes a run at him (although it sounds like Carolina is the expected destination).

They're a barometer of what the basketball world thinks of the players

I expect Bam, Ben, and Jakstys back … I think Tomi declares for the draft …
This just isn’t it Brad. It’s not like this at gold standard programs.

I don’t mean to badmouth 0440 or Lville. They don’t deserve to be chased off by trolls wirh nasty DMs. I am really grateful they went above and beyond to share so much inside information with us when they certainly have better things to do.

They do not deserve any nasty response from any of us, but it is still nonetheless frustrating to be told that we are morons for being concerned and that everything is fine and that we should be happy with the results we have had. You just can’t look at this program, with an objective and critical mind, and think that this is a healthy program.

I choose to put my faith and trust behind Josh Whitman, and I trust the people who seem to be in his circle. If those people are ringing alarm bells about the situation, that says it all for me.

How many 5 star recruits does Matt Painter have on his roster. He's a believer in system recruits and development. Our fans here would want to DESTROY Brad if he didn't bring in a top 15 class with NBA prospects.

Izzo does the same thing. You don't see MSU chasing one and dones. He's a system guy that is only interested in guys who commit to the program and not the NBA after one year.

Our fans wouldn't accept that style of recruiting. This off-season is a great example. Here we are again with our main targets who want to be drafted in a year. What do you expect is going to happen?

How many players off of Purdue are going to be drafted? They'll be back for year four because they committed to the program, not the NBA.

Our fans would absolutely lose their minds with an off-season like that. They have coaches that don't believe in the portal and lean on development.

That's not us. We're chasing Dame Sarr and are trying to come up with 7 figures to bring other transfers in.
But…

KJ is first 1 and done in Illinois history
WR is 2nd 1 and done in Illinois history

And like the recruiting rankings it usually doesn’t work out how they are ranked except for the top tier players coming out of HS.
