I may be wrong as I have no inside scoop, but I have ZERO belief Ivisic is entering the portal. There's a point where it just doesn't make sense. Things went wayyy to well for him.

He’s clearly out for the biggest payday possible given how he chose BYU of all places. I’m sure Mom can tell him everything about Champaign given she played at UI from 96-00. Perhaps last year we didn’t have enough money to make a credible offer, this year with the departures we should.

6’9 only 190#. Shot 35% from 3 on high volume (123 attempts), but only 59% from the line. He definitely has a ton of potential. I’d be way higher on signing him than what Booth did last year at Notre Dame for example

Bro jrum48 ...

I think Ben H deferred to the team also by going from a starter to bench roll player letting Riley start and show his bball potential.

Bro coffeemug...
Last year there were about 1400 players in the transfer portal. This year so far 1100...it appears a lot of coaches can't retain players

Not even the guy that drank six Monsters? OrTyler Griffey that hit that buzzer beater lay up to beat #1 Indiana?

I still think something smells in Champaign, We all know Brad is a hot head and Tyler is a knucklehead!

I would just make it a rule to not read any of the DM’s. I for one appreciate every single update that you post and look forward to everything you share.

Tomi was a second rounder walking in the door to Illinois last year. KJ was well known to be a lottery pick at that same time. Riley as a first rounder too. Those talking to staff last summer heard them say that we very well could have 3 drafted first round this year (KJ, Tomi, and Will). KJ actually regressed throughout the year. What’s sad is that we couldn’t even get to sweet 16 being that loaded. Although look at Rutgers-#2 and 3 players in projected NBA draft. So they’re poorly coached too.

Here’s what I’ll say … You don’t have to agree with my posts … You don’t have to like my posts … But I post the raw, unfiltered truth from multiple angles (donors, current players, former players, coaches, other coaches, agents, etc.) … Not through orange and blue glasses …

It may not always be the popular take or make people happy but it’s the truth in many cases or how I see it in others … And if that gets people fired up then so be it … 🤷🏻‍♂️

Personally - I think I give credit where it’s due and criticism where it’s fair … I support our programs and coaches until I am unable to stand behind them anymore and see changes that need to be made and I voice my opinion based around the facts I know and the information I’ve received …

As others have mentioned … The DMs not only this week but this past year for myself have been absolutely ridiculous and I can understand why many on here may decide to be done and take a break …
We need a hall of shame room, where screen shots of hateful messages can be posted. There is absolutely no excuse for being hateful or condescending in these chats or via dm. Just totally uncalled for and out of line IMHO.

NCAA men’s basketball has just become an unsanctioned, independent G-league run through colleges and universities. Student-athletes? Which teenage kids making 1-2M/year are going to any classes? Becoming harder and harder to connect with for many fans because it absolutely is not about the name on the front. I’m not faulting kids for this mind you, just saying it’s hard to invest in as a fan of the game.

Man, how does Geoff and O feel about Tyler and Hamer having all this control? Do they support these guys or despise them? You've gotta think if the staff remains in place and all the players are portalling Whitman and company have decided to back Underwood and not force any staff changes.
Good questions. Hope it doesn't cost us any more assistant coaches.

Those who say that Morez can’t shoot from the outside need to look at his high school reels. He could shoot from the outside pretty well actually which raises the question of why he didn’t ever shoot from the outside here. Maybe there’s something to his narrative that the staff wouldn’t let him.

This is quite possibly the one time in my life I have inside information, so I’m gonna post it and feel special and important and marvelous.

Per a family member of Catchings, Illinois is not high on his list as of about a week ago.

(Don’t bother following me, this well is now officially bone dry.)
I mean Catchings didn't exactly have the greatest freshman year but I would love him with Morez now gone.

I don't know if it would be doable but I'd love a lineup of Boswell, Conwell, Catchings, Keyshawn Hall, and Tomi.

You would surround Boswell and Tomi with a ton of positional size, athleticism, and enough shooting. Go shopping for some backups to fill out your top 8 and I think that a roster that could take a realistic run at the big10 championship and a final four.

I think the biggest thing for me is how is Tyler perceived as a manager of the players? Sure he can be excellent at the Xs and Os, but if he is helping to run a team and the team is not on board with him due to personality conflicts, backstabbing (not saying this is the case), tearing people down, etc. then you create an environment that starts to become hostile.

People management is Management 101. If I had a boss that was technically skilled but a really crappy person/manager, I would look to move as well. Then you add in the nepotism thing and it becomes a final nail in the coffin. The portal era has leveled the playing field for players to move when put into a hostile environment. If I had a competing offer from a similar school and the assistant coach was crappy, I’d seriously consider jumping ship too.

Imagine if Bobby Knight had to deal with it. He would have probably have complete roster turnover every year.

Please note this is what I’m perceiving based on the information that appears to be out there.

I’m sure JW is well aware of all that’s going on, so I expect that things will be changing. Unfortunately, things like these can take time, even though in the portal era time is truly of the essence.
History tells us that Bobby Knight had quite a bit of turnover in his years at Indiana.

Two things:

It’s time to have a separate topic for Portal. You can’t pack all 123 pages into Recruiting. What are the headlines? You have to read 100 pages to find out that Tre and Morez are gone. We need an In box and an Out box.

What is Illinois basketball’s brand? It used to be tied to the players.
Now it’s what? Brad Underwood and his two inept assistants?

Are there any rules preventing multi - year NIL deals? All of the ones I see are one year deals.

Is a program like Illinois even able to offer someone like Morez 2 years for $5 million, based on what they saw in year 1?

This would be a nice tool to have in the toolbox. Would allow a program to show commitment to a player (should the player have reciprocal interest), while helping the program to better construct rosters (less shooting from the hip), AND enhance fan experience through continuity.
